Your News & Updates from the Office of Community Engagement and Constituent Services (CECS)
Dear Community Leaders and Members of District 5,

It seems hard to believe January has almost wrapped up, I hope you've had a good start to 2020 this month. We have been extra busy in the County Executive's Office hosting our seven Budget Town Halls, with the last two happening this week. If you'd like to learn more about the county budget process, explore the new interactive budget tool under the recent news section.

This month we also celebrated Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday. The County Executive and 1,000 other residents showed up to honor Dr. King last weekend in North County, and hundreds more at a breakfast in West County, where County Executive Pittman expressed that Anne Arundel County had a wake-up call this year. Reported incidents of hate bias, mostly against African Americans, have been on the rise. We are committed to bringing people together and eradicating hate in our communities, and we hope you will join us in that fight. Stay tuned for a special event in February on this topic.

One more New Year's change to share: The signs you see when you enter the county have been updated. Anne Arundel County's new slogan is officially The Best Place - For All. The County Executive made this update in hopes that these words will offer a warm welcome to everyone in our county.

Best,

Reece Peak
