Beloved of God,
We will hear, this Epiphany Sunday, the story of the magi from the east visiting Jesus and his parents and bringing lavish gifts. The word "Epiphany" means "showing forth" or "manifestation." The idea is that we celebrate God manifesting, or showing up, on earth in the person of Jesus. And because the magi are not Jews but are from other parts of the world, we celebrate that Jesus showed up not only for some, but for all people.
God is still showing up in our world. Maybe not as a tiny baby born in a stable, but in so many other ways. In the kindness of strangers and friends, in the generosity of the rich and the poor, in the laughter of children and elders, and in the support of the grieving and oppressed.
Use these winter months to look for how God is showing up in your life. I guarantee you will see some amazing things and will grow in your relationship with God.
In peace, Pastor Sarah |

Nominating Committee Update
The Nominating Committee is Brandy Timmons, Sean Fraley, Tom Miller, and Pastor Sarah. Their work to invite individuals to serve on Council will wrap up early in January.
There are five roles opening this year: President, Treasurer, and three Members at Large. The Nominating Committee is looking for folks who have the following characteristics: active faith life, open minded, self-differentiated, good listener, good communicator, can see the big picture, open to change, and value the
history of the congregation. The committee also has an eye on finding a mix of demographics including, age, gender, and length of time in the congregation,
among others.
If you are interested in serving on Council, or you know someone who might be a good Council member, please talk with one of the Nominating Committee.
A slate will be created for the
annual meeting. Nominations are also accepted from the
floor.
