Public Works Update

We would like to recognize Tom Bruce for arranging for the return of the traffic signal at SFD and Oak Manor to normal operations. All work associated with the sinkhole repair has been completed and Town Staff will work with the Flood Control District to pursue budget, plans and permits for permanent improvements to the creek reach there to prevent any similar issues in the future.
Accident On Sir Francis Drake at Glen Drive This Morning

There was a vehicle accident at Sir Francis Drake and Glen Drive in Fairfax this morning. The truck that overturned had a large quantity of paint in the back of the bed that spilled onto the roadway. Thankfully, none of the paint made it into the gutter or any storm drains. The Town consulted with the Haz Mat team who concurred that there was no hazard and our DPW crew came out to assist with the cleanup. Both drivers were transported minor injuries. Fairfax PD was on the scene providing traffic control both directions until the vehicles were cleared. We are thankful there were no major injuries.
Housing Element Update

Don’t Forget to Comment on the Safety Element Update
  • A preliminary draft of the updated Safety Element is now available on the Fairfax Speaks website for the public to review, provide comments, and ask questions.
  • The Safety Element, like the Housing Element, is a component of Fairfax’s General Plan.
  • The Town is required by law to revise the Safety Element at the same time as the Town is preparing the Housing Element update.
  • Your input on the Safety Element can help ensure that Fairfax plans for future housing needs in a way that aligns with the safety of the Fairfax community.

The Ross Valley Sanitary District (RVSD) has completed clean-up at our former treatment plant site (at 2000 Larkspur Landing Circle) and received final signoff from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The EPA’s official clearance letter allows unrestricted land use for the site. RVSD is now initiating community engagement to help plan for future uses at the site.

Take a 3 to 5 minute survey to provide your input about land uses and development at the RVSD’s former treatment plant at 2000 Larkspur Landing Circle.

Open until March 10, 2022

Physical copies of the survey are available at:

Getting to Zero Waste at Home

Achieving the least waste possible is an important goal at home and at work.
While recycling is important, there are additional elements to zero waste, including reuse and, most importantly, reducing the amount of stuff we buy in the first place.

Here are some resources on this website that can help:

Recycling Guide: Find out how to reuse, donate, recycle or safely dispose of just about anything.

Food Waste Prevention: When we make the most of our food, we ease the pressure on the food supply system, help the environment and save money!

What Is Zero Waste? How is Marin County working toward Zero Waste?

Going Zero Waste is an ongoing task for all Marin residents and businesses. Thanks for your zero waste efforts.
