Manager, Marketing & Communications
Cassie is joining the team in a new role overseeing branding, marketing, promotions, communications, and sponsorship initiatives for Volleyball Alberta. With a diverse background in volleyball, track, and as a World Cup and Olympic Skeleton athlete, Cassie has a deep understanding of the passion and commitment VA members have for sport. Additionally, she brings professional experience as a journalist and broadcaster. Based in the Calgary office, we are excited to see the unique skill set she will bring to VA!

Sarah McKillican
Coordinator, Age Class & Events
Volleyball Alberta is happy to introduce Sarah McKillican; she originally hails from Comox, B.C., but recently graduated from Mount Royal University and played five seasons with the Cougars as a setter and libero. Sarah is joining the competitions team and will oversee the 12U age class and facility bookings, assist with beach and outdoor programs and support social media for our indoor and outdoor events. Sarah brings a diverse range of experience and is passionate about promoting a positive sport experience. Please join us in welcoming Sarah to the VA family.

We look forward to seeing the 15UG, 16UB and 18UG teams for their Premier #1 this weekend. We have 246 teams scheduled to play this Saturday & Sunday (Feb. 1-2) across the province! Hosted in 3 major cities and their surrounding areas (Calgary, Edmonton & Red Deer), utilizing 60 courts in 16 facilities and over 100 referees and 31 Venue Coordinators to make it all happen. Wishing everyone a great weekend! As always, respect the referees, coaches, athletes, staff, and facilities. Athletes are permitted to bring individually packed meals that fit in their personal bag; coolers, food trays, and meal preparation is not permitted in facilities. Help keep our events clean and place all trash in the bins. Respect restricted areas and if you spot a hazard or feel unsafe, please talk to your coach and see the on-site venue coordinator. | |

Roster Lock Snapshots are what VA Staff print in preparation for each Premier & Provincial tournament.
Club Admins, and Rostered Coaches, can view their rosters for each event by login in to Sportlomo > go to your club portal page > in the menu click Roster Sheets > click (edit) to view the full roster details > Under the Registered Events, click to view each event roster lock snapshot. Please ensure all players & coaches are listed! Only those on the roster lock snapshot (which becomes the printed roster sheet for each event) will be allowed on the bench.

GO Sports Spring Registration
Registration for our Spring GO Sports programs for Edmonton, Fort Saskatchewan and Calgary for ages 6-17 opens on February 3rd at noon. For more information on the program dates and times, please visit our website - GO Sports North and GO Sports South.
Summer Camps
It's time to think about summer and we are in some new locations this year! We offer volleyball camps for ages 6-17. Registration for Edmonton, Calgary, Sylvan Lake, and Grimshaw will be open on February 10, 2025 at noon. School Sessions
We are booking in-class sessions for Kindergarten to Grade 6 with schools to introduce Volleyball Canada’s newest version of Volleyball – Smashball for Edmonton and surrounding areas. After each session, we will provide teachers with resources to continue to teach the game in their physical education curriculum. Early Stages Grant
We are providing funding support up to $3500 for clubs to expand their early stages and recreation development programs. Early stages programs are sessions that target kids ages 6-12, whereas recreation development programs are targeted towards ages 13-17.

GMTM is our platform to apply for Indoor & Beach Team Alberta Identification Camps.
The applications opened on December 2nd, 2024.
Application Deadline is March 1st, 2025. Do not delay, as coaches have begun reviewing applications already.
Team AB ID camps are by invitation only and the application through GMTM must happen in order for this to take place. Once an application is uploaded, an athlete can come back and edit their videos/information. Coaches will review applications and invites to the ID camps will be sent a few weeks prior to the scheduled camp. We have added our Beach programs to this platform as well and would encourage any interested Team AB beach athletes to also apply through GMTM.

NEW Safe Sport Education Program for Youth (13-19)
Empower yourself with the knowledge to create a safe and respectful sports environment. This Safe Sport Education Program covers recognizing abuse, setting boundaries, and fostering healthy relationships. Through interactive modules and discussions, you’ll gain skills to protect yourself and others. Please note: some topics may be challenging—support is available on our Resources Page (link). For athletes under 13, we recommend taking this training with a parent or guardian.
