Wed. Feb. 3 is now a regular Flex Day, with no Class Spotlight.
Wed. Feb. 24 will feature Freshmen and Senior Class Spotlights.
Wed. Mar. 3 will showcase Sophomore and Junior Class Spotlights.

New School Holiday - Friday March 12
Carondelet and De La Salle have decided to add a school holiday on Friday, March 12. Academic classes will meet on Monday-Thursday, with no Flex Day that week.
COVID & Hybrid Update

As a reminder, we have another round of COVID testing (appointments close tonight) in place for Wednesday, Feb. 3rd. We want to emphasize that continued testing provides us an extra layer of safety for those students who are back on campus in our hybrid.

We had a positive case on campus last week. The test results came back on Thursday and messaging was sent to students and faculty in those classes. This is a reminder that because we are following distance and masking protocols, we do not have to quarantine other students in those classes. Through contact tracing we have reached out to other possible close contacts outside of school and we do have a couple of other students who will quarantine at home for the required length of time.

Mrs. Main has created a necessary modification with the inclement weather by adding seating in the gym, Garaventa Center, and Jean Hofmann Center for Innovation for rainy days. Though it creates the need to have to do more reminders about distancing, we will continue to work with students in order to create as safe an environment as possible. As we complete our ninth week in our hybrid, I want to thank everyone for your flexibility and cooperation. We are offering something that we know is incredibly important for our young women, both in terms of their learning and social/emotional health. We will continue to do everything we can to continue to provide opportunities for our young women.

Changing between Hybrid and Distance Learning

In an effort to clarify the timeline and process of changing between hybrid or distance learning for families, we have created a Hybrid Management Portal on our website, available at all times to support families. We hope that this page makes the process easier and provides greater clarity for your family.

Any status change requests are due by noon on Friday, February 19. This should allow for a return to hybrid reintegration start date of February 22.

We want to thank you for your proactive communication and your partnering with us in these complicated times to ensure our students maintain a connection to school to the level that feels safe for your individual situation and supports your daughter’s educational journey.

Student Life Updates

Ven a Ver Salinas - Applications available!
Do you have a student who’s interested in social justice? This year, instead of traveling to the Central Valley, Ven a Ver Salinas will be a virtual immersion experience! We will have three sessions during the exploratory period (from 2:00 - 4:00 PM) on Flex Days starting on February 24th. We will learn about issues that farmworkers face locally and globally. We will explore themes such as climate disasters, migration, and youth farmworkers.

Freshman and Sophomores may apply. Apply and learn more about the Ven a Ver Salinas exploratory here. Applications due February 9th. Contact Ms. Miranda, Campus Minister for Community Service and Social Advocacy with any questions.

California Department of Public Health - Travel Advisory
With Preidents’ Day Weekend approaching, we would like to remind families of the CDPH Travel Advisory stating that all persons returning to California from other states or other countries should self-quarantine for 10 days upon return. If your daughter has traveled over the holiday weekend and will be quarantining upon return, please connect with Ms. Malisa in the attendance office.

Families of the Class of 2021
If you missed the Class of 2021 Town Hall on Thursday, 1/21 and want the latest updates on spring senior celebrations and activities, you can watch the recorded meeting on our Town Halls webpage

The most current information on Graduation and other important senior events can be found on the Graduation webpage. Bookmark this page as all additional information on events will be posted as soon as we have them.
Student Wellness

Carondelet values student social emotional health at its highest level and this can be seen in its clear support of our counseling department, something you don’t often find in the landscape of high schools across the country. As Wellness Counselors your daughters mental health and well-being is at the forefront of what we do. Learn about on campus wellness resources.

These are especially difficult times and careful attention to everyone’s mental health continues to be a priority. We encourage families to keep the lines of communication open around this important topic, and to engage in regular conversation regarding mental health and well being. Suicide is the second leading cause of death for youth ages 15-24. Suicide is preventable, and talking about it is our best defense. Our communities have been impacted by both past and present loss.

As we prepare for next week's Laps for Life event on Saturday, Feb. 6th, we will be providing various resources, education, and support for our students.

Suicide and Crisis: 1-800-833-2900

Wellness counselors are available to support students and families in navigating these issues and developing strategies that foster social emotional health. Please reach out if you have any questions, concerns, or are in need of any referrals.

Additionally, if a hybrid student will be absent from school, but intends on participating online, a parent/guardian must also notify Ms. Malisa. Missing class and/or being physically absent from school without parent/guardian notification may result in an unexcused absence. After any medical appointment, please email a photo of the school excuse note or appointment verification notice.

Email is the preferred method of communication with Ms. Malisa (mmeemari@carondeleths.org). She can also be reached via the Attendance Hotline at (925) 686-5353 ext. 359. In addition to notifying Ms. Malisa, students are always expected to directly connect with their teachers.

Seeking Conference Room Furniture
Carondelet is looking to furnish a conference room with matching black or white mobile tables, up to 20, and matching stackable or rolling chairs with approximate measurements of 2' 4.5" H, 5' W, 2' D. We want to be able to move the tables for small to large meeting formats while easily storing those not needed. With the recent evolution of office space usage due to the pandemic, we thought there may be a community member looking to donate such items for a tax-deductible donation. If you know of anyone, please send pictures to Terri Meehan at tmeehan@carondeleths.org.
