Operation Deep Freeze
CALLING ALL COOKS!
St. Luke’s is sponsoring two weeks (February 14 -20 & February 21 -27) to cook for approximately 25 people when the temperature goes below freezing.
The Salvation Army opens its doors for dinner and provides sleeping arrangement for those normally sleeping outside. The meals are simple (i.e. sloppy joes, coleslaw, baked beans, chips, and dessert). Food is prepared at the Salvation Army. You can create your own menu that you would like to serve. We need a minimum of 4 people per evening. The Outreach Commission will reimburse you for the food you prepare.
Don’t miss out on this fun evening working side by side with your parish family!
If you see this as a project you would like to be involved in and comfortable doing during the pandemic, then call:
Mary Hallford at 602-796-1177.

Care Support Boxes/Bags for those suffering at home from Covid
Which commandment is the first of all?” Jesus answered, “The first is, ‘Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one; you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ The second is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” Then the scribe said to him, “You are right, Teacher; you have truly said that ‘he is one, and besides him there is no other’; and ‘to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the strength,’ and ‘to love one’s neighbor as oneself.’
COVID RESPONSE ACTION PLAN - EMERGENCY BOX/BAG PROGRAM
CONCERN: We would like to respond to requests from Covid-positive parishioners with moderate symptoms who are being asked to isolate/quarantine at home to avoid overflowing hospitals. Afflicted Households are unable to pick up supplies because of contagion and quarantine so we would like to help you out.
THE COVID RESPONSE ACTION PLAN
GOAL: To keep as many Covid-positive people out of the hospitals as possible
PLAN: Create "COVID SUPPORT BOXES/BAG" with 14 days of supplies, which will help Covid-positive people manage their symptoms at home.
The boxes/bags will focus on the following in order of priority and based on supply:
- Oxygen and Temperature Monitors for quantitative measurement of symptoms
- PPE- gloves, masks for everyone in household
- Disinfecting/Sanitization Products
- Hydration and Electrolyte Support - Electrolyte packets to mix with water
- Acetaminophen, Daytime and Nighttime Cold OTC
- Vitamins - D, C, and Zinc
We are working with Greater Yavapai County Coalition to put this program into place.
It's time to put our thoughts and prayers in a Box/Bag!
If you would be willing to love your neighbors as yourself and help by providing any items from the list above for these boxes/bags, we would be extremely grateful. Please contact Deacon Kimball at 928-273-3004 - cell and we can arrange to pick up your generous donations or if you are at the church you could mark them for COVID assistance and drop them off Tuesdays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
May God bless you for loving your fellow parishioners.
In Christ's love,
Deacon Kimball Arnold and the Outreach Commission

The St. Luke's Team for the Prescott Community Cupboard Food Bank needs your help!
“The Cupboard” was started in 1973, with St Luke’s as one of the seven founding member churches. Since 1973, the Cupboard has been providing groceries to families in need out of their location in downtown Prescott on Goodwin Street.
The number of people coming to the Cupboard for assistance has increased since the COVID-19 crisis. The St. Luke’s Team is in need of more “packers“ (people who work in pairs to bag up the groceries and assist in handing them out to families). It is very rewarding work and one more way to show our solidarity with those who have been most affected by this crisis. Packers are asked to work one afternoon for 3 hours every seven weeks (less, if we have more volunteers😊).
If you would like to be part of the St Luke’s Team, or would just like more information, email Gayle Gregory at azgayler@gmail.com.
