NGBS Green at the 2022 International Builders’ Show
February 8-10, 2022 | Orlando, FL
There are lots of opportunities to learn about high-performance homes at IBS. If you are attending, plan to connect with the Home Innovation green team and NGBS Green Verifiers at the following events/locations:
Tuesday, February 8, 3:30-5:00PM EST, IBS Building Zone S218

Grab a cold one and join the Brew Crew for a live broadcast of the BS* + Beer Show! The BS* + Beer is an independent, grassroots movement to share building science knowledge through a weekly online talk show as well as local meet-up groups. During this live session, the team will take a deep dive into the four control layers within a building envelope – water, air, vapor, and thermal – that must be addressed in order to build a durable home.

Hear from NGBS Green Master Verifier Carl Seville, SKCollaborative, as well as Ben Bogie, BPC Green Builders; Michael Anschel; Emily Mottram, Mottram Architecture; Mike Maines, Michael Maines Residential Design; and Travis Brungardt, Catalyst Construction.
Tuesday, February 8, 1:15-1:45PM EST, Multifamily Central

Multifamily construction follows this pattern: design, bid, value engineer, then build. Plans are often prepared with little thought to how the building will perform in terms of energy and water efficiency, durability, comfort, and occupant health. With proper planning early in design, multifamily projects can incorporate advanced techniques, improving performance and durability while managing costs. Learn how to invest time with the entire project team and identify performance and cost improvements that will accrue to future projects, paying dividends for years to come. Give tenants healthy comfortable apartments with lower energy bills without breaking the bank. Hear from NGBS Green Master Verifier Carl Seville, SKCollaborative.
February 8-10, S218

Formerly known as the High Performance Building Zone, this unique space on the exhibit floor will again provide attendees with industry-best expertise for building more durable, energy efficient, higher-quality homes — but given the unique challenges faced by our industry, NAHB is expanding this year’s learning to include efficiencies that can be found in additional areas of the construction process: use and types of materials including offsite systems, labor, jobsite productivity, construction speed, cost, and more. The Building Zone will show and explain the processes for better performance and construction efficiency.

TOUR TNAH & TNAR: NGBS Green Certified Show Homes
Take the opportunity to tour the official IBS Show Homes. Both homes are projected to earn Emerald-level NGBS Green and +NET ZERO ENERGY certifications, as well as the ENERGY STAR, Indoor airPLUS, and ZERH labels. NGBS Green Master Verifier Drew Smith, and NGBS Green Verifier Josh Kane, both of Two Trails, Inc., provided verification services.

GET FOCUSED! Home Innovation Focus Groups During IBS
Finally, Home Innovation Research Labs will be conducting focus groups and individual interviews among energy raters, home inspectors, home builders, remodelers, exterior replacement contractors, architects, engineers, and other trades people at the 2022 IBS. This research is being conducted to obtain reactions to new products and to explore new trends in the construction industry. In appreciation for their time, we are compensating participants with a substantial cash honorarium. If you are interested in participating in our focus groups and interviews, please contact Jon Violette at [email protected] or 301.430.6304.
