PHILOPTOCHOS

On November 2, 2024, we celebrated our St. Nicholas Parish’s 60th Anniversary.  The event was held at the Woburn Country Club, and we had an amazing evening! Metropolitan Methodios joined us and gave the blessing.

We had a total of 110 people in attendance. Our profit was $13,180.60 after expenses.

This profit has been put towards our Building Fund. We had several donors who contributed to this event, and for this we are very grateful!

Thank you to all who made this event such a success!!!!

CHRISTMAS BAKE SALE – December 22.  As is customary every year, Philoptochos is asking for pastry donations for this event.  Sign up sheet can be found on the wall near the kitchen.  We ask that you be generous with your baking skills.  Thank you so much. Delivery dates:  Dec. 18, 19, & 21.

STEWARDSHIP

STEWARDSHIP NURTURES US:

Gifts. Have you received a gift that made you feel in the current lingo - that person “gets me”? Did you give a gift that made someone feel that way?

Those responses tell us something unique and uplifting has happened in that relationship.

Though we are surrounded by those who love us, maybe there is a part of us that is alone, isolated, maybe even lonely. We are complex and even the people who love us best may not see all the parts of us, so a gift that reaches that quiet, closed part of us makes us feel truly happy and connected. We want to be valued and known. Are we?

The art of gifting is not about the physical gift or the cost; it comes out of deep understanding of the other, putting ourselves in another’s shoes. The miraculous and supreme example is Christ.

Christ has just become a baby and will know us from the level of our aloneness and scruffiness and search for love. Do we say, “He gets me. He really knows what I am going through”? He heals us, loves us, connects us to Him. Glory Halleluiah. How do we thank Him for His Gifts? Christ is born. glorify Him.

COMMUNITY TRANSFORMATION TEAM (RENOVATION)

Due to a busy December calendar of events, our first Community Transformation Team (Renovation) Information meeting will be held on January 5, 2025 after Divine Liturgy. More details to follow.

REMINDER: Do you enjoy a nice cup of coffee and a piece of pastry following each Sunday’s Divine Liturgy? Of course, you do. That’s why we’re asking those who have not sponsored a Sunday fellowship hour in a while to please sign up for the many opening dates available. We all like to chit-chat with our fellow parishioners with a coffee in-hand. So, please step forward. It’s real easy…..all you need to bring is some pastry (nothing fancy) and a gallon of milk. The church supplies the rest (napkins, plates, cups, etc.). If you have questions, just call the church office.

Thanks much for answering this appeal. We all will appreciate and thank you.
