Your News & Updates from the Office of Community Engagement and Constituent Services (CECS)
Dear Community Leaders and Members of District 5,

Happy New Year! We hope that you had a very relaxing and joyful holiday season and that you are ready to hit the ground running in 2020. We definitely are!

On Friday, the County Executive spoke to the Chesapeake Bay Commission about Anne Arundel County's efforts to achieve a clean Chesapeake Bay. Later that same day the Director of the EPA's Chesapeake Bay Program made comments that served to undercut that mission. County Executive Pittman responded to this news by saying that "If the federal government won't lead this effort, then state and local governments must. I n Anne Arundel County, we are still in. And I invite the Chesapeake Bay governors and other local leaders to join us." You can read his full statement in the Recent News and Press Releases section of this e blast.

In the County Executive's Office, January will be very focused on getting public input for the next county budget. There are a couple of different ways that you can participate. First, you can spend time exploring the new and improved interactive budget tool. You can use this tool to add teachers and public safety officers, adjust revenue projections, and figure out how you would balance the budget. Second, we've scheduled seven budget town halls in January and we want you to show up and tell the County Executive how you want your tax dollars spent. I encourage you to put the budget town hall in your area on your calendar, to organize with your neighbors, and to show up and let your voice be heard. The County Executive takes these events very seriously and he will listen to what you have to say. I look forward to seeing you there!

Best,
