Three Ways to Stay Ahead of the Snow

Waking up to a driveway blocked by snow can be frustrating. This video shares practical snow plowing tips, including how to shovel your driveway correctly, reduce snow plow delays and help residential streets get cleared faster.

Stay Ahead of the Game During a Snow Event.

Are you prepared for winter weather? With more than 1,000 lane miles of streets and cul-de-sacs to clear, city crews work tirelessly during a winter event to keep public streets safe. Depending on the total snow/ice accumulation, this may include plowing, treating or both.

  • If snow is expected, move vehicles off of the street. This ensures crews can navigate your street safely and helps speed up the snow removal process.
  • Remove obstacles such as trash cans, portable basketball goals, soccer goals or other structures from the street.
  • Give the plows plenty of room. Stay back at least 30 feet from the rear of the plow. If you can see the driver's face in their mirror, they can see you.
  • Beware of reduced visibility.

Visit LSSnow.net for snow updates and frequently asked questions.

January Water Rate Increase

Effective Jan. 1, Lee’s Summit Water Utilities customers have a 5% increase in water volume rates and monthly base charges for water and sewer. Water and wastewater rates are evaluated annually with a five-year forecast to meet operational costs and infrastructure renewal needs. Some of the most significant cost drivers are reinvestment into the infrastructure and rate increases from water suppliers and sewer treatment facilities.
