Greetings in Christ!

Our new spiritual journey of 2021 has launched! This week I will preach on Mark 1:4-11. Through the story of Jesus’ baptism, we will see how Jesus had launched his ministry. After spending a long time waiting during 2020, we are hoping that we can live in a safer world again. Unfortunately, many people including myself have become fatigued from the pandemic. I believe that this is the time for us to encourage and pray for one another so that we can finally overcome this difficult time together.

We are in need of scripture readers for January and February. If you are available, please click the link below and sign up for this ministry.

Starting next Wednesday, I will be on a two week vacation (Jan 13-26). If you have any prayer requests, please email Chuck Frary (hloring.cfrary@verizon.net) so that he can include your prayer in our prayer list. If you need to share any events or news with congregants, please reach out to Carole Reilly who is our lay leader (car.eeyore@gmail.com). However, if you have any issues that you need to talk with me directly, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.

In Christ,

OUTREACH
CITY REACH - PART TWO!

Hello Everyone,

I received an email from Common Cathedral thanking us for all the donations we brought into Boston in early December. Along with the other churches that brought donations there was enough to provide for more than 225 unhoused brothers and sisters who desperately needed the items they received to sustain them through the cold winter months.

It was so successful that they are having another "Mini City Reach" on January 23rd. They are specifically in need of:

  • New men’s underwear (any size and boxers are preferred)
  • Large bags, backpacks and suitcases with wheels.

Dunkin Donuts gift cards ("Dignity Cards") are also welcome and will also be collected to be distributed as a meal, a warm place to eat, and use of the facilities are so important to the unhoused community.

The office at the CHUMC Fellowship center is open every Tuesday from 10:00AM to 5:00PM. If you are available on Tuesday, please stop by Fellowship Center and drop your donations off in the church office. If Tuesday is not good for you, please reach out to Mark Kingston at 781-264-7366 or MKingston@easterninsurance.com, or Chuck Frary at hloring.cfrary@verizon.net, so that they can arrange a time for you. All donations should be dropped off no later than Sunday, January 17th.

Donations can also be dropped off at the Norwell Council on Aging, January 13-15 ONLY, but please call first (781-659-7878) to be sure someone is available to take in your donation.

PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE BAGS OF DONATED ITEMS OR GIFT CARDS OUTSIDE EITHER LOCATION!

This is another opportunity for us to work together to support our most vulnerable sisters and brothers!

Thanks,
Mark Kingston
