OUR MISSION:
St. Rita School inspires students in Pre-Kindergarten through grade eight to achieve academic excellence in a safe, nurturing and faith-filled Catholic environment.
We prepare students to be morally responsible, innovative thinkers who, in today’s technology-guided global community, live and share the Love of Christ.
FROM THE DESK OF MRS. TIEZZI
Dear St. Rita Parents,

I would like to thank you all for the generosity you showed during the holiday season. Your contributions to the Advent Giving Tree, faculty and staff Christmas gift, as well as, providing baked goods and individual teacher and staff gifts was overwhelming and greatly appreciated. The St. Rita School community is very special and very generous. Thank you.

Now that we are in the winter season this is a gentle reminder that St. Rita School follows the decision of the Hamden Public Schools regarding delayed openings, early closings or closure due to inclement weather. Once we are notified of the HPS decision we will notify you via email and/or phone or text messages. We will also notify local news stations regarding our status. You are able to receive notification from the local stations on your phone by signing up for text alerts on the TV stations website.

Please be advised that I have been informed by our Catholic school superintendent, Dr. Michael Griffin that he will be retiring at the end of this school year after forty-four years of service in Catholic education.  We are grateful to Dr. Griffin for his years as Superintendent and the many contributions he has made to advance the mission of our schools.  The Archdiocese of Hartford will engage a search firm with a strong reputation to identify qualified executive level candidates for the open position. Once the process is finalized, information will be available on the Archdiocesan and OEEC website. I will keep you apprised of the situation.

Please join us for our annual celebration of National Catholic Schools Week, beginning on Sunday, January 27. We will be kicking off Catholic Schools Week (January 27-February 2) with two student led Masses. The 9:00 Mass on Sunday, January 27 at St. Stephen Church and the 11:30 Mass on Sunday, January 27 at St. Rita Church. Students are asked to wear their school uniforms to show their school pride to either Mass and receive a free dress day coupon from Msgr. Joe. Please see Mrs. Tiezzi, Sr. Anne or Mrs. Testa at Mass to receive your coupon.

This year’s CSW theme-“Catholic Schools: Learn, Serve, Lead, Succeed”-highlights our focus on academic excellence, faith development, dedication to community service and future success. We’ve planned a variety of events to show how we are doing as a community at St. Rita School.  You are also cordially invited to attend the First Friday Mass (8:45 A.M.) on February 1 followed by an Open House for current parents from 10:00-11:00 in the school.  A more detailed listing of the CSW activities will be sent home in next week’s newsletter.

Thank you for entrusting your child/ren to our care. Have a great week.

God Bless,
Mrs. Tiezzi

School News
Heartfelt Thank You!

I wish to express my deepest thanks to everyone for the overwhelming send off I received on Friday, December 21, 2018. I was completely surprised and humbled by the outpouring of all the love shown to me. The prayer service, the many gifts, the Proclamation from Mayor Leng and all your expressions of gratitude to me I will always remember. More importantly, I have been blessed in knowing all of you and all those whose paths I have crossed these past 29 years. My life has been enriched by all of you and for this I am especially grateful. Please know that I will remember you in my prayers. Remember: “St. Rita School is the place to be where the love of Christ is lived and shared!” May God continue to bless each of you.

With gratitude and love,

Mrs.Raccio
