CELEBRATION OF MINISTRY
We have one more combined service this Sunday at 10:00. Following the service is our annual Ministry & Missions Fair on the patio. This is a great opportunity to learn more about all the exciting opportunities to get involved in missions, ministry and fellowship groups at Dayspring. We’re also hosting our second annual Chili Cook-Off in the Palo Verde Room! There is a suggested donation of $5 for adults and $3 for children to help support our missions projects.
THEOPUB
Join us Monday, January 13 at 6:30pm at My Wine Cellar & Bistro, 5030 E. Warner Road, Phoenix (west of 51st Street on the north side of Warner). This month’s theme is: “Exile or Embrace”, led by Karen Hostetter. All are welcome to join us for an interesting and timely conversation, food and drink!
KINGDOM DINNERS
Kingdom Dinners have been powerful forums for Dayspring to learn and commit to act around different issues. On January 15, from 5:30-7:30, we will enjoy a simple dinner ($3 donation requested) screen a UMW film entitled Zero Weeks: Putting Families First to continue exploring barriers to the poor and under-employed. Most Americans agree that family is a priority. Yet the United States is the only developed country without paid family leave. In the richest country in the world, having a baby, medical emergency or an aging parent can leave a family on the brink of poverty. This 55-minute video by Ky Dickens, weaves together powerful family stories with insightful interviews from faith leaders. The documentary explores our nation’s paid leave crisis and the cost of doing nothing; but above all, it shows that change is possible and is in our hands!
UNITED METHODIST WOMEN
Everyone is invited to the January United Methodist Women meeting on January 16 at 7:00pm in the Palo Verde Room. Ginny Hildebrand will share about the Sidewalk Sunday School Ministry for homeless children in Mesa, including the annual Christmas gift donation drive supported by our kids in BeTween—and your generous donations during their car wash.
SERVE DINNER AT UMOM
Please help by volunteering to help serve dinner at the UMOM homeless shelter: We need help with shelter dinners for the second and third Sundays of each month in 2020. You would arrive at the UMOM Main Campus (3333 E Van Buren St, Phoenix, AZ) at 5:00pm to help serve dinner and finish shortly after 6:00. Sign up here or email Carolyn if you have any questions. Thanks so much for your help!
