Dear St. Peter Family,

This fall, your student participated in the Iowa Assessment, a comprehensive series of tests evaluating proficiency in English, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science. Administered to all students in grades 3-10, these assessments are a vital component of the Diocese of Jefferson City’s standardized testing program.

We are proud to announce that St. Peter School students scored above National Standards at every grade level and met or exceeded the Diocesan average in nearly all grades, with only a slight variance of 0.2 in 8th grade and 0.3 in 5th grade. These exceptional results reflect the unwavering commitment of our parents, teachers, and staff to fostering a culture of academic excellence and supporting student success.

Our teachers and administration consistently analyze this data to celebrate our strengths and identify opportunities for growth, ensuring that we provide the highest quality education for all our students. We continue to build on our shared dedication to learning and achievement.

Hi, my name is Alicia Shimmens, and I am one of the 3rd grade teachers. This is my 13th year of teaching. I taught 3 years as a Special Education teacher at Thomas Jefferson Middle School, and this is my 10th year at St. Peter’s. I was born and raised in Jefferson City, MO, and graduated from Immaculate Conception, Helias High School, and Lincoln University. I received a Bachelor’s of Science in Special Education K-12 and Elementary Education 1-6. My husband, Brad, and I were high school sweethearts and have been married for 11 years.  We have two daughters Henley (8) and LJ (3), and a son, Miller (5). We are members of St. Peter Parish. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, going to the lake during the summer, playing outside with my kids, riding bikes as a family, crafting, and watching and attending sporting events.

Dear St. Peter Families,

Our theme for Catholic Schools Week this January is a continuation of our school theme: What Would Jesus Do? We would like to invite St. Peter's adult family members to consider if they have a talent they can teach to our students. If you feel called by the Holy Spirit to teach your talent, here are the details to consider:

What can you teach?: hair styling, gymnastics, gardening, baking/cooking, art or craft, dancing, acting, day in the life of your job (police, firefighter, etc...)

When: Friday, January 31st-one or two sessions of your activity from approximately 8:30-10:30.

Who: You can determine whether your activity is appropriate for younger or older students.

Where: You will teach the activity in a classroom or the appropriate space in the school building. A teacher/staff member will be in the room with you to supervise and assist.

How: Please send your name, an activity you would like to teach, and any questions you have concerning materials needed and logistics to Mrs. Garner at sgarner@stpeterjc.org no later than January 17th.

All volunteers must be compliant with Virtus.
