Bible Readings for January 11, 2025
Պօղոս Առաքեալի Կողմէ Թեսաղոնիկեցիներուն Գրուած Առաջին Նամակէն (4:13-18)
Եղբայրնե՛ր, կ՚ուզենք որ մեռածներուն մասին ճշմարտութիւնը գիտնաք, որպէսզի չտրտմիք ուրիշներուն պէս, որոնք ոեւէ յոյս չունին։ Որովհետեւ, եթէ կը հաւատանք թէ Յիսուս մեռաւ եւ յարութիւն առաւ, նոյնպէս ալ կը հաւատանք՝ թէ Աստուած Յիսուսի ձեռքով եւ անոր հետ վերստինկեանքի պիտի բերէ անոնք՝ որ անոր հաւատացին եւ մեռան։
Հետեւաբար՝ կ՚ըսենք ձեզի, ինչպէս Տէրը ինք սորվեցուց.– Մեզմէ անոնք որոնք ողջ մնացած կ՚ըլլան Տիրոջ գալուստին ատեն, մեռածներէն առաջ պիտի չանցնին։ Որովհետեւ երբ հրամանը լսուի, հրեշտակապետը ազդարարէ եւ Աստուծոյ փողը հնչէ, Տէրը ինք երկինքէն պիտի իջնէ, եւ նախ յարութիւն պիտի առնեն անոնք՝ որ Քրիստոսի հաւատացին եւ մեռան։ Եւ ապա, մեզմէ անոնք որ այն ատեն դեռ ողջ պիտի ըլլան՝ անոնց հետ միասին ամպերու վրայ երկինք պիտի յափշտակուին Տէրը դիմաւորելու համար. եւ այնուհետեւ Տիրոջ հետ միասինպիտի ըլլանք յաւիտեան։
Ուստի այս մտածումներով քաջալերեցէք իրար։
The First Epistle of St. Paul to the Thessalonians (4:13-18)
But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about those who have died, so that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have died. For this we declare to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will by no means precede those who have died. For the Lord himself, with a cry of command, with the archangel's call and with the sound of God's trumpet, will descend from heaven, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up in the clouds together with them to meet the Lord in the air; and so we will be with the Lord for ever. Therefore encourage one another with these words.
Յիսուս Քրիստոսի Աւետարանէն Ըստ Յովհաննու (11:1-46)
Հիւանդ մէկը կար, Ղազարոս անունով, որ Բեթանիայէն էր. այն գիւղէն, ուրկէ էին Մարիամ եւ քոյրը՝ Մարթա։ Ասիկա այն Մարիամն էր, որ իւղով օծեց Տիրոջ ոտքերը եւ մազերով սրբեց, եւ որուն եղբայրն էր Ղազարոս, որ հիւանդ էր։ Ղազարոսի քոյրերը մարդ ղրկեցին Յիսուսի մօտ, որպէսզի անոր ըսեն.
– Տէ՛ր, քու սիրելի բարեկամդ հիւանդ է։
Յիսուս երբ լսեց, ըսաւ.
– Այս հիւանդութիւնը ո՛չ թէ մահուան, այլ Աստուծոյ փառքին պիտի ծառայէ եւ պատճառ պիտի ըլլայ որ Աստուծոյ Որդին փառաւորուի։
Յիսուս կը սիրէր զանոնք՝ Մարթան, անոր քոյրը Մարիամը եւ Ղազարոսը։ Սակայն հակառակ Ղազարոսի հիւանդութեան լուրը առնելուն, երկուօր եւս մնաց հոն՝ ուր կը գտնուէր։ Յետոյ ըսաւ իր աշակերտներուն.
– Եկէք կրկին Հրէաստան երթանք։
Աշակերտները իրեն ըսին.
– Վարդապե՛տ, Հրէաստանցիները դեռ նոր կ՚ուզէին քեզ քարկոծել, հիմա կրկի՞ն հոն կ՚երթաս։
Յիսուս անոնց պատասխանեց.
– Ցերեկը տասներկու ժամ չէ՞։ Ան որ ցերեկ ատեն կը քալէ՝ չի սայթաքիր, որովհետեւ այս աշխարհի լոյսով իր շուրջը կը տեսնէ։ Բայց ան որ գիշեր ատեն կը քալէ՝ կը սայթաքի, որովհետեւ լոյս չունի։
Յիսուս այս խօսքերը ըսելէ ետք՝ աւելցուց.
– Մեր բարեկամը՝ Ղազարոս քնացած է, երթամ արթընցնեմ զինք։
Աշակերտները իրեն ըսին.
– Տէ՛ր, եթէ քնացած է՝ ուրեմն կ՚առողջանայ։
Յիսուս Ղազարոսի մահուան ակնարկութիւն կ՚ընէր, մինչ աշակերտներուն այնպէս թուեցաւ՝ թէ անոր քնանալուն կ՚ակնարկէ։ Այն ատեն բացայայտ կերպով ըսաւ.
– Ղազարոս մեռաւ. բայց ես հոն չըլլալուս՝ ձեզի համար ուրախ եմ, որովհետեւ դուք ինծի պիտի հաւատաք։ Ուրեմն եկէք իր քով երթանք։
Թովմաս, որ Երկուորեակ կը կոչուէր, ընկերներուն ըսաւ.
– Օ՛ն, եկէք մենք ալ երթանք իրեն հետ մեռնելու։
Երբ Յիսուս Բեթանիա հասաւ, արդէն իսկ Ղազարոս չորս օրէ ի վեր թաղուած էր։ Բեթանիա Երուսաղէմի մօտիկ է, միայն երեք քիլոմեթր հեռու։ Հրեաներէն շատեր հոնկէ եկած էին Մարթայի եւ Մարիամի մօտ, զանոնք մխիթարելու համար իրենց եղբօր մահուան առիթով։ Մարթա երբ լսեց թէ Յիսուս կու գայ, դիմաւորելու գնաց, մինչ Մարիամ տունը մնաց։ Մարթա Յիսուսի ըսաւ.
– Տէ՛ր, եթէ հոս ըլլայիր՝ եղբայրս չէր մեռներ։ Բայց հիմա իսկ գիտեմ, թէ ի՛նչ որ Աստուծմէ խնդրես՝ Աստուած քեզի պիտի տայ։
Յիսուս անոր ըսաւ.
– Եղբայրդ յարութիւն պիտի առնէ։
Մարթա պատասխանեց.
– Գիտեմ որ յարութիւն պիտի առնէ վերջին օրը, յարութեան ատեն։
Յիսուս ըսաւ.
– Ե՛ս եմ յարութիւնը եւ կեանքը։ Ան որ ինծի կը հաւատայ, թէպէտեւ մեռնի՝ պիտի ապրի։ Իսկ ան որ ողջ է եւ ինծի կը հաւատայ՝ երբեք պիտի չմեռնի։ Կը հաւատա՞ս ըսածիս։
– Այո՛, Տէ՜ր,– պատասխանեց Մարթա,– կը հաւատամ թէ դուն ես Քրիստոսը, Աստուծոյ Որդին, որ աշխարհ պիտի գայիր։
Մարթա այս խօսքերը ըսելէ ետք գնաց եւ իր քոյրը՝ Մարիամը կանչեց եւ փսփսալով ըսաւ.
– Վարդապետը եկած է եւ քեզ կը կանչէ։
Մարիամ լսելուն պէս ոտքի ելաւ եւ Յիսուսի մօտ գնաց։ Յիսուս տակաւին գիւղ չէր մտած, այլ կեցած էր հոն՝ ուր Մարթա զինք դիմաւորած էր։ Տան մէջ գտնուող Հրեաները, որոնք Մարիամը կը մխիթարէին, երբ տեսան որ աճապարանքով ոտքի ելլելով գնաց, հետեւեցան անոր, որովհետեւ կարծեցին թէ գերեզման կ՚երթայ՝ հոն լալու համար։ Մարիամ հասաւ այնտեղ՝ ուր Յիսուս կեցած էր։ Հազիւ զայն տեսած, անոր ոտքերուն ինկաւ եւ ըսաւ.
– Տէ՛ր, եթէ հոս ըլլայիր, եղբայրս չէր մեռներ։
Յիսուս երբ տեսաւ Մարիամը որ կու լար, ինչպէս նաեւ անոր հետ եկող Հրեաները որոնք կու լային, հոգեպէս խռովեցաւ եւ յուզուած՝ ըսաւ.
– Ո՞ւր թաղեցիք զինք։
Անոնք ըսին.
– Տէ՜ր, եկո՛ւր եւ տես։
Յիսուս լացաւ։ Հրեաները իրարու կ՚ըսէին.
– Տեսէք թէ ո՛րքան կը սիրէր զայն։
Ոմանք ալ կ՚ըսէին.
– Այս մարդը որ կոյրին աչքը բացաւ, չէ՞ր կրնար այնպէս մը ընել՝ որ Ղազարոսը չմեռնէր։
Յիսուս դարձեալ ներքնապէս յուզուեցաւ եւ մօտեցաւ
գերեզմանին, որ քարայր մըն էր եւ որուն մուտքին քար մը դրած էին։ Յիսուս ըսաւ.
– Վերցուցէ՛ք քարը։
Մարթան, մեռնողին քոյրը, ըսաւ անոր.
– Տէ՛ր, հիմա նեխած պէտք է ըլլայ, որովհետեւ չորս օրէ ի վեր թաղուած է։
Յիսուս Մարթային ըսաւ.
– Քեզի չըսի՞, որ եթէ հաւատաս՝ Աստուծոյ փառքը պիտի տեսնես։
Երբ անոնք քարը վերցուցին, Յիսուս աչքերը վեր բարձրացուց եւ ըսաւ.
– Հա՜յր, շնորհակալութիւն քեզի՝ որ լսեցիր զիս։ Գիտեմ որ միշտ կը լսես զիս. բայց ինչ որ այժմ կ՚ըսեմ՝ շուրջս գտնուող ժողովուրդին համար կ՚ըսեմ, որպէսզի անոնք հաւատան թէ դուն ղրկեցիր զիս։
Ասիկա ըսելէ ետք՝ բարձր ձայնով կանչեց.
– Ղազարո՛ս, դո՛ւրս եկուր։
Ու Ղազարոս դուրս ելաւ՝ ոտքերը եւ ձեռքերը պատանքով փաթթուած եւ երեսը վարշամակով ծածկուած։ Յիսուս ըսաւ անոնց.
– Քակեցէ՛ք պատանքը եւ ձգեցէք որ երթայ։
Հրեաներէն շատեր, որոնք Մարիամենց տունը եկած էին, երբ Յիսուսի կատարած այս հրաշքը տեսան, հաւատացին անոր։ Սակայն ուրիշներ գացին Փարիսեցիներուն մօտ եւ պատմեցին ինչ որ Յիսուս կատարեց։
The Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to St. John (11:1-46)
Now a certain man was ill, Lazarus of Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha. Mary was the one who anointed the Lord with perfume and wiped his feet with her hair; her brother Lazarus was ill. So the sisters sent a message to Jesus, ‘Lord, he whom you love is ill.’ But when Jesus heard it, he said, ‘This illness does not lead to death; rather it is for God's glory, so that the Son of God may be glorified through it.’ Accordingly, though Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus, after having heard that Lazarus was ill, he stayed two days longer in the place where he was.
Then after this he said to the disciples, ‘Let us go to Judea again.’ The disciples said to him, ‘Rabbi, the Jews were just now trying to stone you, and are you going there again?’ Jesus answered, ‘Are there not twelve hours of daylight? Those who walk during the day do not stumble, because they see the light of this world. But those who walk at night stumble, because the light is not in them.’ After saying this, he told them, ‘Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but I am going there to awaken him.’ The disciples said to him, ‘Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will be all right.’ Jesus, however, had been speaking about his death, but they thought that he was referring merely to sleep. Then Jesus told them plainly, ‘Lazarus is dead. For your sake I am glad I was not there, so that you may believe. But let us go to him.’ Thomas, who was called the Twin, said to his fellow disciples, ‘Let us also go, that we may die with him.’
When Jesus arrived, he found that Lazarus had already been in the tomb for four days. Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, some two miles away, and many of the Jews had come to Martha and Mary to console them about their brother. When Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went and met him, while Mary stayed at home. Martha said to Jesus, ‘Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died. But even now I know that God will give you whatever you ask of him.’ Jesus said to her, ‘Your brother will rise again.’ Martha said to him, ‘I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day.’ Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?’ She said to him, ‘Yes, Lord, I believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God, the one coming into the world.’ When she had said this, she went back and called her sister Mary, and told her privately, ‘The Teacher is here and is calling for you.’ And when she heard it, she got up quickly and went to him. Now Jesus had not yet come to the village, but was still at the place where Martha had met him. The Jews who were with her in the house, consoling her, saw Mary get up quickly and go out. They followed her because they thought that she was going to the tomb to weep there. When Mary came where Jesus was and saw him, she knelt at his feet and said to him, ‘Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.’ When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her also weeping, he was greatly disturbed in spirit and deeply moved. He said, ‘Where have you laid him?’ They said to him, ‘Lord, come and see.’ Jesus began to weep. So the Jews said, ‘See how he loved him!’ But some of them said, ‘Could not he who opened the eyes of the blind man have kept this man from dying?’ Then Jesus, again greatly disturbed, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone was lying against it. Jesus said, ‘Take away the stone.’ Martha, the sister of the dead man, said to him, ‘Lord, already there is a stench because he has been dead for four days.’ Jesus said to her, ‘Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?’ So they took away the stone. And Jesus looked upwards and said, ‘Father, I thank you for having heard me. I knew that you always hear me, but I have said this for the sake of the crowd standing here, so that they may believe that you sent me.’ When he had said this, he cried with a loud voice, ‘Lazarus, come out!’ The dead man came out, his hands and feet bound with strips of cloth, and his face wrapped in a cloth. Jesus said to them, ‘Unbind him, and let him go.’ Many of the Jews therefore, who had come with Mary and had seen what Jesus did, believed in him. But some of them went to the Pharisees and told them what he had done.
