For the Siebert family, Ole Miss is more than tradition; it's perseverance, connection and home
What began as merely following a cousin to Ole Miss in the late 1960s turned into a way of life. In the fall of 1966, Bonnie Schoenknecht Siebert followed her cousin from Joliet, Illinois, to the University of Mississippi. Transferring from Joliet Junior College, the nation's oldest junior college, Bonnie graduated from Ole Miss in January 1969 with a degree in education. She returned to Joliet and almost never came back. Read more

Citing recent government reports that show the nation’s housing market is far from recovering, Stan Mabry, 34, says he may be forced to choose a different career path. The Brentwood, Tennessee, native has spent the last nine years trying to saturate the Oxford real estate market with hastily-built condominiums in areas that were once home to wildlife and nature trails. Despite his best efforts, the town may stay its current size and retain its appeal unless something miraculous happens within the next couple of months. Read more, laugh more!

Help Jeff Callaway while recovering from heart Surgery

Jeff Callaway has worked at Volta for over 4 years now and is like family to us. He recently suffered a heart attack and needs bypass surgery. Unfortunately, Jeff does not have health insurance, and the medical costs associated with his hospitalization, surgery, and recovery are overwhelming.
Jeff has been in critical condition since he came out of surgery earlier this week. The hospital is doing their best to keep him sedated and stable while remaining in ICU. There were several complications and there will be many hurdles for Jeff to overcome. Please keep Jeff in your thoughts as he will need a lot of support over the next coming months. A New Year’s celebration was marked by two traditions in my family: fireworks and black-eyed peas. Many of the fireworks were left over from my father’s superb Christmas collection, which contained the usual array of bottle rockets, Roman candles, and firecrackers, but he always had a few fountains and a big rocket or four put away for the last night in December. The peas, which we had on the table pretty much year-round, assumed an incandescence all their own that night as a signature of memory and togetherness. Read more
