Know Your Exit Strategy - In an office or other building, identify where the closest exit is in case of an emergency. In construction scenarios, make sure you're familiar with the exit most easily accessible to your area. If you're involved in trenching, use best practices by positioning a ladder or ramp every 25 feet; follow safety precautions closely to avoid trench-collapse injuries.

January Health Observances |

Radon is produced from a natural breakdown of uranium in soil, rock, and water. It enters homes and other buildings through cracks in floors and walls, construction joints, or gaps around service pipes, electrical wires, and sump pits. The Environmental Protection Agency reports elevated levels of radon gas have been measured in every state and estimates nearly one out of every 15 homes in America has elevated radon levels.
Over time, breathing in high levels of radon can cause lung cancer. The American Cancer Society says a variety of methods can be used to reduce radon gas levels in your home, including sealing cracks in floors and walls and increasing ventilation through sub-slab depressurization using pipes and fans.
To test your home, contact your state office:
404-562-8991.
