“I have always believed this is a great country and all the meetings, and places we had confirmed this perception.”

ICDLA is proud to be a Global LA Partner Organization and is pleased to announce the appointment of Terri Batch as its new CEO. Global LA is a public-private partnership established by the Office of the Mayor of Los Angeles and supported by L.A.’s most dynamic businesses, dedicated civic leaders, and economic development organizations.
Terri Batch has been tapped to build a team that promotes the L.A. region to a global audience to increase foreign direct investment. She will collaborate with members and supporters of Global LA to develop an economic narrative that spotlights the region ahead of the 2026 World Cup and 2028 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games. “I am humbled and honored to lead such an important effort. This is an exciting time to promote Los Angeles on a global stage with an emphasis on uplifting and creating jobs in under-resourced and under-recognized communities,” stated Terri.

Fostering Global Connections: IVLP Participant's Journey in L.A.
|
ICDLA is happy to share the experiences and insights of our international visitors, and today, we want to showcase IVLP participant Judge Marthel Jean Claude from Haiti. Judge Marthel participated in a regional project for Africa on the Rule of Law and the U.S. Judicial System, in August 2023. He kindly shared his impressions with us. As part of the IVLP program, Judge Marthel and his colleagues visited Los Angeles, where ICDLA arranged their professional meetings. He had this to say about one of the meetings, “The meeting that marked me the most was our visit to the Federal Court in Los Angeles. Our delegation was warmly received by the judges of this court.”
| |
|
This experience provided Judge Marthel with valuable insights into the American judicial system, helping to shape his perspectives for his work in Haiti. He shared, "I was able to discover some interesting aspects of the functioning of the American judicial system at the state and federal level. I can therefore draw inspiration from these aspects as part of my duties as a judge in my country."
Judge Marthel emphasized the importance of the IVLP program for his professional path and goals. He noted, "Cultural exchanges under this program are of crucial importance. These exchanges are therefore a means that will allow participants in this program to see the functioning of each country and to draw the positive points of each country's systems.”
| |
|
Judge Marthel's IVLP journey highlights the significant impact of international exchange programs on both individuals and communities. We wish him continued success with his professional growth and the implementation of his newfound insights in his homeland.
