IVLP Alumni Spotlight: Filmmaker Bozorgmehr Sharafedin
|
|
While in London last month, IVCLA sponsor Andrea D'Orazio (pictured) and IVCLA President Janet Elliott, had the opportunity to enjoy lunch with IVCLA alumnus
Bozorgmehr Sharafedin.
Andrea hosted Bozorgmehr for Home Hospitality in January 2014 when he came to Los Angeles as a participant in an International Visitor Leadership Program focused on
Film in the U.S.
Originally from Iran but based in London, at the time of his visit to L.A.
Sharafedin
held the position of Editor at the BBC Persian Newsroom, BBC World Service. In addition to his role as editor, he
also directed, produced and reported on some of BBC Persian's documentaries. He is currently an
Energy Correspondent at Thomson Reuters
and continues to live in London with his wife and baby. IVCLA loves to foster continued connections.

World Trade Week Scholarships Open!
|
|
The World Trade Week committee offers scholarships to aspiring students in international trade fields. Scholarships are awarded to outstanding graduating high school seniors entering an accredited college or university with the goal of a career in international trade, as well as college students pursuing international degrees. By fostering international trade education and international business development, the committee hopes to develop a network of international trade professionals willing to provide mentoring to future students interested in international business
.
Deadline to apply is Friday, March 13, 2020.

Summer Study Abroad Scholarships

|
Final deadline February 14th, 2020
Put on your traveling shoes and join CIEE for a
summer study abroad programs. Three types of programs are offered in over 30 destinations:
Language & Culture programs in seven different languages,
Service & Leadership programs in areas like children’s rights or education, and
Global Discovery programs in marine science and global entrepreneurship, to name a few.
Any high school student is eligible to apply. Scholarships will be awarded based on both merit and financial need. The final deadline to
apply is
February 14, 2020.

ISEF 2020 will be in
Anaheim, CA May 10 - 15 2020.
The Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) is the world famous international science and engineering fair for high school students and
the world’s largest international pre-college science competition.
Society for Science & the Public is seeking interpreters and general volunteers for Regeneron ISEF 2020. More than 500 volunteers across a spectrum of activities are needed. Volunteer opportunities are available during the week in a range of shifts!

Responding to the treatment migrants face in detention, Kiefer carefully arranged and photographed objects seized and discarded by border officials. Moved by the untold stories these objects embody, Kiefer commemorates them in photographs akin to portraits, preserving traces of human journeys cut short.
