Strategic Plan - Get Involved!
The City of Valparaiso is launching a new Strategic Planning process and we're interested in learning what YOU think about Valpo. There are two ways to get involved:
  1. Take a 6-question survey and share your thoughts (link available online beginning Feb. 18). OR
  2. Take part in a one-hour Zoom session. We've scheduled 5 opportunities at different times and days of the week.
To access the survey and find links to the Zoom sessions, which begin February 15, visit our website.
COVID-19 Resources
The City of Valparaiso is looking forward to better days ahead with the release of the COVID-19 vaccine. We continue to support the efforts of the State and Porter County Health Department (PCHD) as they work to distribute vaccines to Hoosiers. Some resources and links that may be of interest include:
Valpo Parks Release 2021 Activity Guide
Valpo Parks released its 2021 Activity Guide to kick off the new year. View the guide to see all the special events, sports, enrichment, day trips and more offered at Valpo Parks. Some standout happenings to look forward to include a duathlon at Creekside Trails, a kayak launch at Rogers Lakewood Park, an adult ping pong league and more. Due to changes based on recommendations and guidelines regarding COVID-19, the 2021 Activity Guide is offered in a virtual format to allow for updating as necessary throughout the year. At this time, all events and programs are subject to change.
Valparaiso Events Offers Curbside Market and Rally Caps
Valparaiso Events has found creative ways to "Lift Up Valpo" through the COVID-19 pandemic. Here are two exciting new offerings for the community to enjoy.
  1. The Valparaiso Market is now a year-round market where you can find fresh produce, delicious baked goods, meats, honey, crafts and more that are all produced locally. Visit the Online Market to order your items and pick them up curbside on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month. This online service will continue through May, with the Outdoor Market kicking off June 1.
  2. There's still time to get your very own Lift Up Valpo Rally Cap! It's simple - make a local purchase, take a photo and tag @ValparaisoEvents on Facebook or Instagram. Or you can bring your local receipt and grab your cap at Valparaiso Events.
City Awarded Roadway Grant
The City of Valparaiso has been awarded a new Community Crossings Grant from the Indiana Department of Transportation. This 50/50 matching grant will support the reconstruction of a 1,300 foot section of Eisenhower Avenue, including concrete curbs, storm sewer upgrades and the installation of sidewalks. The project is expected to cost $845,000, with the Community Crossings grant funding $422,000. Work is expected to be completed June 2021. Additional roadway projects will be announced early this year. Learn more.
Neighborhood Watch
The Jessee-Pifer Neighborhood hosted a neighborhood Luminaria Walk for all to enjoy. They scheduled a specific evening and encouraged neighbors to set out luminarias so that families could enjoy a festive stroll through the neighborhood during the holiday season. Great idea!
