Welcome to our LBPD Newsletter!

Earlier in the month we announced our 2019 statistics showing a continuing trend in the overall reduction of citywide crime, compared to last year and our five-year average.

Overall crime totals continue to decrease and that is largely due to the work both sworn and civilian employees accomplish every single day. However, there is still more work to be done to further reduce crime in our City. It is unacceptable that innocent people are impacted by senseless criminal activity. And we will continue to work in partnership with you, our community, on strategies to reduce crime and continue to support those victims affected by these crimes.

You can read more about it here .

On the Patrol Beat

Students from Long Beach Wilson's B*CHILL wrote holiday thank you letters for our LBPD officers. They presented the letters to Assistant Chief Hebeish, Deputy Chief Herzog, Chief of Staff Blair and Sergeant Hall at the Public Safety Building just ahead of Christmas. Thanks for your support Bruins!

Great job by our South Directed Enforcement Team and patrol officers who recovered illegal firearms from four separate incidents over the course of one weekend in early January. Thank you for their hard work!
East Division officers were pleasantly surprised with a delivery of movie theater themed goodies and heartfelt notes from students in the "DIY Club" at Wilson High School. Thank you for “popping” by to put smiles on the officers’ faces !
