Liberation from Colonialism Now: Promoting Research Activism

Colonialism is not purely a historical concept. We are witnessing it in Eastern Europe, and we can witness it internationally and locally in everyday interactions, clinical encounters, research, systems, institutions, and cultures. Moving towards decolonization requires, first, identification of the effects of colonization. We will provide a variety of possible approaches to identifying colonization and moving towards decolonization, as we address the need for cultural change. Virtual Symposium, Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023 Featuring Faculty and Students from Antioch PsyD in Clinical Psychology Programs.

Generational Trauma: Healing the Ancestors Inside Me

with Sergio Ocampo, LMFT, SEP

All of us are the product of a long human lineage that not only influences our minds, but also our physical experience. Our ancestry brings with it the overwhelming emotional experiences that our ancestors pass on to us.  Working as a group, we will learn and support each other towards reaching deep insights and applying the science of Somatic Therapy towards healing.

Queering the Risk Assessment

LGBTIQ+ youth report suicidality more often than their gender normative peers. This group also has a higher rate of completed suicide than their peers. While assessing for risk of suicidality is challenging for most counselors and this is particularly true for children and adolescents, it is clear that we must do better at assessing risk and developing effective safety plans for our LGBTIQ+ youth. This presentation will address specific considerations for counselors when engaging with this population for risk assessment and provide recommendations for the development of effective safety plans.

Y- Are We Together? The BIPOC Couples Experience
