Parent-Child Home Program partners with KCLS on "Raising a Reader" program
This year, Encompass Parent-Child Home Program (PCHP) is partnering with King County Library System (KCLS) to bring their "Raising a Reader" program to PCHP families.

The goals of "Raising a Reader" are four-fold:
  1. Foster healthy brain development
  2. Develop and enhance early literacy and language skills
  3. Promote and strengthen parent-child bonding
  4. Develop and foster print motivation in 0-Pre-K
These goals align closely with those of PCHP, making the partnership a natural fit.

Here's how it works: Encompass has a lending library of about 100 books, provided by KCLS, in the languages that our families speak at home. PCHP Early Literacy Specialists take books out to families in year one of this two-year program. When the families finish reading a book, they give it back and the Early Literacy Specialists bring them a new one, just like the library. At the end of the year, PCHP families will be given a library bag and a book to keep.
Mobile Therapy Unit expands services into Fall City, Carnation, and Duvall
The Encompass Mobile Therapy Unit (MTU) will now be at the Fall City Library on Wednesdays, Holy Innocents Church in Duvall on Tuesdays, and Carnation Elementary on Thursdays.

The MTU was built in 2017 as a way for Encompass to eliminate distance-based hardship as a barrier to quality care. The first of its kind in Washington State, this therapy-center-on-wheels enables us to bring specialized services right into the communities that need them.

Families interested in receiving services in our Mobile Therapy Unit should go through our intake process for Behavioral Health. For more information, visit our website.

Early Learning Center gets a new roof
Over the last three weeks, roofers have been hard at work at the Encompass Early Learning Center. We now have a much-needed new roof and gutters.

This project was made possible through generous grants from the Simperman Corette Foundation ($24,000) and the Garneau-Nicon Family Foundation ($20,000). We often talk about exciting programs and services offered at Encompass, but these services would not be possible without a safe and secure building for children and staff.

We are grateful to these two foundations for their support!
New youth choir program at Big Star Studios will benefit Encompass
Big Star Studios has started a new extracurricular youth choir program for all ages! This new program will expose young singers to a wide repertoire of choral music and help them develop their vocal technique. In addition to providing this artistic opportunity for Valley youth, Big Star is generously donating 10% of the proceeds from this new choir program to Encompass.

To get involved in the choir and get more information, please email Kristin Tetuán at Big Star Studios.
HesmarieH Fine Jewelry donates portion of proceeds to Encompass
Now through March 2019, hesmarieH Fine Jewelry is donating 10% of the proceeds from sales of items from the "PIECE of my HEART" collection to Encompass.

This collection of jewelry was inspired by the artist's mother. She wanted the heart to look strong like a shield, as a mother protecting her child.
