January 2018: What's New
Preschool Registration Opens Tuesday at 9:00 am!
Though it may be hard to believe, registration for the 2018-2019 preschool year opens on Tuesday, January 16th at 9:00 am at this link. Our classes fill up quickly every year, so make sure to register early to get a spot in the class of your choice.

The 2018-2019 preschool offerings are as follows:
Encompass is the only preschool in the area accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). With our 6:1 student-to-teacher ratio, wholesome meals prepared onsite, and spacious outdoor play area, we are also a favorite with local families, earning the Macaroni Kid-Snoqualmie Valley Gold Daisy Award for "Most Loved Preschool" the past three years in a row.
Challenger Baseball Registration Open Now - Players and Buddies Needed!
Batter up! Registration is now open for the Spring 2018 Challenger Baseball Team, an adaptive baseball program for boys and girls with physical and developmental challenges ages 5-18 (or up to 22 if still enrolled in a school program).

All players are partnered with a "buddy" to assist in areas of batting, base running, and defense, but only as needed. Buddies are typically-developing peers ages 12 and up, often from the Little League Baseball or Softball programs. The cost for players is $35, and scholarships are available. Buddies participate at no charge.
Preschoolers Get Cozy on Pajama Day
On the last day of class before winter break, our preschoolers got to wear their pajamas to school. What could be better than warm jammies on a cold winter day?
Encompass Behavioral Health Moves to Downtown North Bend Clinic; Gets New PCIT Lab
Encompass recently began renting more space in the building where the Pediatric Therapy Clinic is housed, allowing our Behavioral Health team to move to this site from the Early Learning Center on Boalch Ave. Prior to the move, we did some remodeling to create a brand new Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) lab space at the Clinic.

PCIT requires a special setup due to the nature of the therapy: a caregiver and child interact in a room (pictured below) while a therapist observes and coaches the parent's behavior via a headset from an adjacent room.
The PCIT lab consists of two rooms: a station where a therapist sits to discreetly watch, listen, and coach (left) and a room where the caregiver and child interact (right).
Our Little Bakers Need Your Help!
This month, the preschoolers in our North Bend and Carnation classrooms are learning about bread and baking. They have been learning about the qualities of bread, different types of bread, and how bread is made.
To help bring this unit of study to life, we are asking for help collecting baking tools that the children can use in the dramatic play areas. For class activities, we are also collecting environmental print related to bakery, like empty bread packaging, empty cake mix boxes, or empty spice jars. If you have any of these supplies that you'd be willing to donate to our classrooms, please contact Curriculum Lead Brittany Metteer at 425.888.2777 ext. 1228 or via email. Thank you!

Simperman-Corette Foundation Awards $25,000 to Uncompensated Care Fund
Encompass is excited to share that we recently received a grant of $25,000 from the Simperman-Corette Foundation to establish an uncompensated care fund, which allows us to provide therapy sessions to low-income children who have been diagnosed with developmental disability or delay or with an autism spectrum or other socio-emotional disorder. Many insurance companies do not cover developmental therapy and for those that do provide coverage, the high deductibles and copays are often impossible for lower-income families to afford. Funding for uncompensated care allows Encompass to absorb these costs so that children can receive services. We are grateful for the Simperman- Corette Foundation's generous support.
