Calling generations of all nations to the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ!
12 Saved, 7 Recommitments @ Mighty Fortress Revival
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. . . " 1 Peter 1:3.  It is one of my greatest joys to see people born again as they respond to the preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ!  The Mighty Fortress Renewal Weekend was fruitful with 12 people publicly professing their faith in Jesus Christ and 7 making public recommitments in some area of their walk with Christ.  In addition to the evangelistic focus of the weekend, I was asked to lead a two hour discipleship time for believers on Saturday morning.  I preached through Romans 6, encouraging the church that, in Christ Jesus, they are dead to sin and alive to Christ.  Sin is no longer master over them.  They are no longer slaves to sin, but free to live and walk in righteousness!
MOS Connect - Gresham to Spokane, WA
Technology is a double edged sword. It can be used for evil, but it can also be used for good. We choose to use it for good:  discipling and equipping men to live simply and purely devoted to Christ.  Beginning in September of last year, we launched a Men of Simplicity (MOS) discipleship group in partnership with North Addison Baptist Church in Spokane, WA.  Pastor Steve Peters and about 14-15 men from their church, ranging in age from 17-75, meet weekly with our MOS group in Gresham, OR.  The meeting is conducted via a video conference call over the internet with software called Zoom.  The men from the two groups are able to see, hear, and interact with each other. This last weekend, I flew up to Spokane so I could meet in person with the North Addison men and broadcast back to the Gresham MOS group.
The focus of our discipleship training has been the Simple Evangelism study.  These men are maturing in their faith and taking steps to share the Gospel of Jesus in their world of influence.  One joy of the trip was to meet a neighbor of Simplicity Ministries ® board member Robert Sherwood whom he led to faith in Christ last fall.  In addition, the men are growing as leaders of their families.  Please continue to pray for all the men at Gresham MOS, Open Door MOS, Lake Bible MOS, and Spokane MOS.  Thank you for your continued prayers and support! - Mike Thibodeaux

Thankful for Faithful Servants

Last October, our two exceptionally skilled ministry volunteers both needed to resign their positions. Pam Lees joined Simplicity Ministries ® in September 2009 and served as our volunteer Accounts Receivables Clerk.  Her duties included handling mail, processing incoming checks, maintaining the database, and assisting with newsletter distribution.  Pam was a stay home mom when she started with the ministry, but with kids graduated, she has gone back to work full-time and is caring for aging family members.  As such, she is no longer able to continue with her volunteer hours each week with our ministry.  Pat Alfonso served as our volunteer Accounts Payables Clerk.  Pat joined the Simplicity Ministries® team in September 2014.  Her duties included entering all receipts, paying bills, and reconciling statements.  Pat has now moved out of state for work. Words cannot begin to express the thanks and appreciation I have for these two outstanding volunteers.  They were true servants and will be greatly missed on our team.  Please pray for us as we are receiving and reviewing applications, making selections, and training new volunteers.
Two board members also rotated off the board with the close of the 4th Quarter of 2017.  Charles Warren joined the Board of Simplicity Ministries ® in 2006 and faithfully served as board chair from 2007-2017.  Charles will continue in an advisory role to the new chair for several months to help with transition.  Scott joined the Board in 2010 and served as secretary from 2010-2016.  I am truly grateful for the friendship, support, leadership, and wisdom each of these men contributed over their years of service.  In next month's newsletter, we will introduce to you our new board members and volunteers.
