Greetings!
First and foremost, we would like to thank all our parents and pups for yet another great, but also unpredictable year in 2020! The 2020 school year may have been cut a few months short but that didn't change the amount of memories we made, the fun we had and the love we felt all year long! With the continuous love and support of the amazing parents of Happy Hounds, we were able to keep our doors open throughout all the chaos and provide these pups with the fun and excitement that needed with all their furry friends!
In 2020, we had the pleasure of welcoming 59 new four legged friends to our ever growing Happy Hounds family. That's a lot of slobber, happy tail wags and many hours of play-induced comas. A very large portion of those new clients were referred to us by all of you! Thank you for having only the best recommendations for the services we provide! With that, keep in mind, when you refer a client, your pooch receives a free day of daycare to use whenever you wish.
Today and every day, we are left feeling thankful. Thankful for every dog parent, grandparent, sibling or dog walker that is at the end of every leash. You all have become more a part of our family than we could have ever imagined. We truly are blessed to have such amazing fur parents that support us, love us and spoil us every single day. Without you, Happy Hounds would not be the growing daycare and boarding facility that it is today.
We are already looking forward to the anticipated fun of 2021. With that, now that February is upon us and LOVE is in the air! It is that time of year again, we will be hosting our annual Valentine's Day Party! This year, cupid will shooting his arrow toward HH on Sunday, February 14th! We have plenty of room, so please let us know if your pup is looking to find love!
Sincerely,
Happy Hounds

Every year, our pack has the pleasure of welcoming many new additions to our ever growing Happy Hounds family. With all of the happiness and memories we gain from every pooch we meet, unfortunately, there comes a time when we have to say the hardest of goodbyes. It never gets easier receiving that email or phone call. The amount of heartbreak that we feel for the loss of our furry friends is the only downside of this business. We as humans grow such a strange affinity for these goofy little creatures known as man's best friend. Make no mistake, regardless the amount of time we have spent with them, whether that be a little or a lot; the love, loyalty, knowledge and memories that we gain from your beloved furry family member is unwavering. With each and every pooch we meet, we always learn more about them than we could have ever imagined; how to better care and accommodate a new personality. Where their favorite scratch spot is, what their goofy quirk may be, how to whip up a gourmet meal to their liking, who their best friends are, what sends them into the zoomies at the most random of times and ultimately what makes them the happiest of hounds. We love and form bonds with these pups as if they were our own, because when they first walked through that red gate, they became apart of our Happy Hounds family. It isn't just your furchildren that we fall in love with, we cherish our time with parents as well. We look forward to the time we share with you at pick up and drop off, the quick phone call chats, the heartfelt emails, what adventures you're going on or just sharing a good laugh, which happen often. Our heart breaks not just for the loss of our furry friend, but also for you. The truth is, the moment you and your best friend walk through the doors of HH on your first initial meeting, you have both joined our large, drooly, Happy Hounds family. We thank you for giving us every reason to laugh, smile, and feel the love from you and your furry companion.

When we think of the characteristics of the ideal lab, an enlarged picture of your handsome face would be the only explanation needed. You were the epitome of what every lab should be, a model companion that any human would be lucky to have by their side. You were an all star ball player, even if you were a little too competitive at times! You radiated pure bliss every moment of everyday and it was contagious to not just the humans, but to your fellow furry friends as well. Abbott, you just truly loved and lived life to the fullest and always wore your heart on your sleeve. As if your love for life itself wasn’t enough, you loved your humans even more. All it took was a few pets, ‘good boys’, some extra loving or a toss of the tennis ball and you gave us your heart and loyalty. You were always on board for whatever adventure was next on the agenda as long as you had a human to lead the way! It was always an added bonus if that next adventure was a trip to the feeding room for your next meal! You always cleaned your plate and never let a piece of kibble go to waste. We know that you are in your happy place across the rainbow bridge, enjoying an endless supply of tennis balls and a never ending game of fetch!

Oh Baron… you were such a character and knew every trick in the book, literally. Everything you did was over the top and exaggerated to the fullest, but in the absolute best of ways. If we told you to go play in the basement, instead of casually strolling, it was always a frantic, playful zoom. Your mom always asked us to try to keep you down there with the youngins and sometimes you'd like to test our ability to pay attention. It was always a riot seeing you slowly sneak up the stairs, scan the room to see if you were in the clear, just waiting until the staff was either turned around or not looking. Once the time came, you'd dart to an open cot and nonchalantly lounge. Of course your lounging didn't last long until we noticed. That's about when we'd rinse and repeat, inviting you back down to the basement and starting the process all over again. Looking back, it was definitely a game for you! If you weren’t showing off your variety of tricks for praise or treats, you always enjoyed the one on one time and the opportunity to level up with a quick sneak!

We were so lucky to have shared so many years and so many memories with you Bear Head. From your silly toddler years all the way to your ‘get off my lawn’ senior years. Throughout all those years, you never really seemed to grow out of your goofy, awkward phase. But, that was the best part about you!! All throughout your Happy Hounds career, you wanted nothing more than to master the ‘scary’ basement floor. Even when you grew into those long, skinny, stilt legs, for some reason, they just refused to let you walk directly through the middle of the playroom. But defeat was never an option for a seasoned veteran like yourself. So, you did the next best thing to impress your peers. After a couple cautious steps into the basement, you played it cool and took your victory lap around the entire perimeter of the basement as quickly as possible without missing a beat. You lived for approval and praise as much as you loved to live life. Your absence has been difficult, especially for your human brother. No pup will ever be able to fill that void, but your little brother Earl is taking every bit of your advice and doing the best he can!

Silly, slow moving and strong willed Dexter. Some days we wondered if you were truly a husky or just a calm, easy going and level headed boy in a handsome husky coat. The days we never questioned your breed was when your true husky colors would shine through and you had a complete mind of your own! We loved that about you. You always had ideas of your own and you loved to test us. We were all convinced that you avoided the ‘potty break’ shout out on purpose, even when we would personally invite you to join the rest of the pack outside for a break. You always ignored us, turned your head the other way and carried on with whatever it was that you were doing, probably because you hadn't thought of the idea first. Then five minutes after the potty break was concluded and everyone was already back inside, carrying on with their day, there you were ... waiting by the back door, ready to go outside for your very own personal potty break! We secretly knew you were going to be there waiting, but we had to let you believe that you had us trained so well because after all, you were such a good boy and loved your alone time. Oh Dexter, we loved your overly-human-like personality and mannerisms, so it should be no surprise that we always gave you exactly what you wanted!

Regardless of your past experiences in life, you never let anything hold you back or slow you down, ever! You always had such a great spirit and we admired you so much for that. Though you had a disability that left you with some unexpected obstacles in your day to day activities, you never let anything slow you down or impact your positive outlook on life. It may have taken you a little longer to get from point A to B, but even with one shortened leg, you maneuvered through every task without hesitation and carried on with romping, running and playing like a champ! Jackson, you were always such a great reminder that no matter the circumstance, no matter the challenge, that if there's a will, there's a way. Life is too short to dwell, so live it up! We are sure you're across the rainbow bridge, living your best afterlife with your best friend and brother, Kody.

Jewels, you were just the sweetest, little old lady.. Beginning your HH career as a senior, you immediately filled the Grandma role. Everyone respected you and your space. You were such a little trooper for every boarding stay. You never put in too much attention to the shenanigans of the young whippersnappers romping around and creating chaos. Much like a granny in her rocking chair, you loved nothing more than curling up in a nice fluffy bed and enjoying the sights and sounds. When it came time to get your steps in, you had zero hesitation mingling with the pack, walking underneath the big boys and enjoying the fresh air out on the deck. It isn’t easy being a little smaller and a little slower than the rest, but you showed all of us how important it is to slow down, step back and enjoy everyday!

Being a member of the ‘Original Happy Hounds Pack’ is quite the achievement and a title that only a select crew is able to describe as their label. The name Kody A. will furever be at the top of the leaderboard after all your years of service. If you didn’t win us over after all those years with your achievements, your good looks were sure to do the trick. Your feathery, fluffy hair was always enough to do the talking. As a 90s George Clooney look alike, you didn’t need to say much more. But, when it came to ladies of HH, you turned on that charm and showed your sweet, charming side. When all else failed, those dark, sensitive eyes of yours were sure to have us all under your spell! Even though you were never one to beg for attention, on occasion you would sneak up behind a staff member and lovingly hold their hand in your mouth, just wiggling with joy. We will forever miss that sweet gesture.

For anyone that had the pleasure of meeting you, it would be no surprise why your nickname became Mama Lily over the years. You were the perfect Mama to all and a crucial member to our pack. You were so patient, so loyal and so happy all the time. All of the pups, regardless of their age, looked up to you, respected you and were always on their best behavior in your presence, just as they should! You made our jobs as Rufferee’s rather easy. Whenever the youngins became too rowdy in the basement and caused too much ruckus with their silly shenanigans, you always voiced your displeasure from a cot and without fail, they always took it down a notch or two so you could carry on with your happy napping hour! Just because you had to live up to the “Mama Lily’ role, that didn’t mean you couldn’t be the ‘cool mom’. You definitely let loose every now and again and showed the other pups how to have some fun. When the tennis balls and hockey stick came out for the day, everyone better watch out because Mama Lily was ready to play! Oh sweet Mama, we never thought we would ever have to say the most difficult of goodbyes to you. We know you are across the rainbow bridge chasing tennis balls and keeping all those pups in line with your motherly tendencies.

You were just the sweetest boy and wanted nothing more than to make everyone around you smile! We all remember meeting you for the first time and thinking you were the cutest little low riding Golden Retriever with such a luscious golden coat! We were so proud of you strutting through the red gate without mom by your side for the first time. You were just so thrilled and ready to meet your new best friends, the staff. That was what made you so special to us, Mac, you didn't need a whole classroom of friends, all that you wanted was the approval of the humans. Little did we all know, it was all us humans wanted as well, just an unconditional friend to spend our day with. With you, it certainly was love at first sight and we couldn't have been happier to have you a part of our big, furry Happy Hounds family. Though we hadn't seen you in the last few years, please know you still left a huge impression on us and we will furever have those big golden paw prints on our hearts.

If there was a pie chart of things you loved most out of life, it would be split evenly in threes; food, napping in the sun, and squirrel watch. If those were Olympic sports, you would have definitely won a gold metal in all three events. Though you lived your life in a nice mosey leisure, you were always quick to pick the best spots. Boy, you could move fast when it came to stealing the open cot, couch or the best sunny spot on the deck. I'm sure you're over the rainbow bridge guarding the sunny locations from squirrels while being fanned with palm leaves and snacking on hand fed treats.

If there's one word to describe you best, it would be silly. You were a typical golden. Always overly happy and just ready to enjoy every day! You certainly wore your emotions, not just on your sleeve, but on your whole body. When you were happy, everything wagged and radiated pure joy. When you partied too hard and grew tired, you just couldn’t fight the sleep demon and crashed. We could always just see the full on droop of your eyes and face! It was like your batteries were so dry that you couldn't even use your facial muscles anymore. This was always the prime time for us to spoil you with extra snuggles! You had a blast when boarding. Pretty sure you played so hard the first day and a half of your boarding stay that the rest of your slumber party was spent out cold, in the middle of the playroom floor like a fluffy, golden rug!
|
|
Oh Mitzi.. you were a token lab! Always down for a good time whether that included chasing friends, playing fetch or trying your hardest to steal lunches from the lunch bin. The only thing that you were missing was about 1/2 the amount of legs! We absolutely adored you, your regular sized body/head and your silly short leggums. You never let your shortness hold you back, in fact, it arguably worked out better for you! You were always able to slide under your friends during play and even sneak underneath staff to try to pillage the feeding room. Your plans for pillaging were always foiled by staff but you never once gave up. It's that kind of determination that we always admired about you!

|
Oh Nora, we miss you dearly and your love for law and order. You were so serious and proud when it was time to patrol. We all knew your favorite duty of the day was keeping the peace during rowdy games of fetch. Don't get me wrong, we know you loved letting loose and joining in the game of fetch but we also know your chase of the ball would often be interrupted by a rude dog acting out of line. Nora, you never were a fan of rule breakers and their silly shenanigans... But there’s reasons we have rules and you understood that more than most. Believe us when we say, you were definitely a much appreciated and valued Ruffereee. Though you had amazing dedication and work ethic, your best asset, aside from her sweet, sensitive, loving personality, was that big ol' contagious smile. It was impossible to see that face and not match it with a big derpy human smile in return. No No, you will forever be our token Happy Hounds House Hippo and hold such a special place in our hearts.

Sweet Sadie, you always had such a mild, calm demeanor and you were about as loyal as a pup could be. You were our perfect little shadow and made it your days work to be just a step behind your favorite humans. Keeping eyes on us all day was no easy task, but you were always such a little trooper and never complained. Well... that is until your favorite human was separated from you for more than a second. That was the only time we ever heard you bark. And not just bark, but throw a complete "HELLO?!? What about ME?!" fit!! The only thing that would cool your jets would be to give in and let you follow us, even if we were only going to be out of your sight for just a moment. Oh Sadie, what we would do to selfishly have our little shadow just a step behind us today and everyday. We know you are across the rainbow bridge reunited with your favorite human and picking up right where you left off, being the perfect little shadow. But don’t take your daily doggy duties too seriously, after all, you are still the head hound when it comes to critter control!
|
|
Early into your Happy Hounds career, you were so confident and so aware of what you needed your day to day agenda to consist of. They say “to want” and “to need” are two very different ideas but let’s be real… with you, it was ALWAYS a need.. An overly persistent and demanding one at that. We couldn’t even begin to count the amount of times we had to entice you to come in from your favorite lounging spot on the deck. You would just look up at us with those innocent eyes, just hoping for 10 more minutes in the sun or snow. Of course, we always gave in to at least 5 more minutes. On those nice warm days, one of your favorite pastimes was lounging and napping in the pool. Though there's probably a safety issue with napping in a pool, you didn't care, life for you was all about luxury and dognabbit, you lived your life to the best of that ability! We're positive you’re over the rainbow bridge, basking in the sun in your own private kiddie pool. Oh Sashia, what we would do to watch you zoom around the lobby, barking in excitement as your dad arrived in your chariot to pick you up after yet another, relaxing vacation at your home away from home.
|
|
Oh Shiloh. You were just a sweet, sensitive boy trapped in a large, manly dog body. But, you knew a man of your size needed to live up to that tough guy reputation. You were the ideal bouncer and enforcer when it came to naptime. You loved naptime and took it upon yourself to keep the upstairs playrooms calm and relaxing for any pup who wanted to join you in a quick snooze session. If anyone dared to disturb the peace, you were the first on your feet to enforce ‘quiet time’. You would always be sure to position yourself in the most inconvenient spots during nap time too. Generally laying right in the middle of a doorway, making it an obstacle to walk over you. Looking back, that could be why your snooze time was always interrupted! To think a pup running through a playroom too quickly was enough to get you on your feet, but when it came to the humans requesting your cooperation, you were about as stubborn as they come! Yet when YOU wanted our cooperation, you were always sure to let us know. We loved you for that. Your mom was the only person who could ever seem to make you completely happy though. You were the true definition of a Momma’s Boy. When it was finally your turn to go home at the end of the day, we couldn’t leash you up fast enough to reunite you and your mom at the door!
|
|
Sweet, beautiful, young, wild and free, Willa. Our time spent with you was cut far too short. Though we didn’t have the chance to have the quantity of time spent with you as we would have liked, time spent with you was cherished. You were such a fun, free spirited little gal. Watching such a care-free life through your pretty brown eyes was a constant reminder for us to slow day and enjoy the simple moments. Your fun personality was magnetic, always drawing in the most unlikeliest of friends and may of them! As much as you were everyone’s instant friend, you sure did make an even larger impression on the boys, they all begged for a second date! How could anyone not love your gorgeous blonde locks and that sweet face? Your life wasn’t long but your life was so full thanks to your parents. We are so thankful for getting to know you, gone way too soon. I am sure puppy heaven is spoiling you and giving you all the land to explore. Hopefully those boys aren’t flirting too much with you!

You were a man of many nicknames and when any form of your name was hollered throughout the daycare, you were prompt to respond! You would stop and drop whatever it was that you were doing, just to make sure you were first out the door for a potty break. Not because you had to use the facilities, but because you wanted to sniff every square inch of the yard before we cut your patrol short and called you back inside. You knew you were on a timeline and always knew exactly where you left off last time! You were the first one to sniff out any sort of critter if they dared to enter the daycare yard. When your nose wasn’t going, you definitely made it your goal to be as awkward as possible, in any way you could. If you weren’t rubbing on the humans like a cat, you were sure to show off your awkward play style with the other pups just to get a reaction from anyone who was watching. Oh Wrigglesworth, you silly, handsome boy. We know you are across the rainbow bridge running the show and assuring no critters make their way through the gate.. Because if they do, you will be sure to sniff them out!
|
|
“Woo! Woo! Woo!” You were the sweetest of girls with so much to say. You always made your entrance known and talked to anyone who was willing to listen. Coming in to Happy Hounds on a Ziva day meant we would be immediately greeted with muffled woo-woos which instantly plastered a smile on our faces. We always reciprocated your Woo’s and carried on quite the lengthy conversation with you throughout the day. You always knew how to put everyone in a good mood with your woo-ing melodies. It was pretty much guaranteed that any time we asked you a question, you would respond with a few toe taps and plenty of woo's, which was always the perfect response. We can't help but think with how sassy you could be that maybe you were complaining about our poor service... Especially during feeding time. But we know that wasn’t the case at all, you were always more than happy lounging on your signature spot on the bench, being first in the lunch line and sharing your wisdom in exchange for ‘good girls’ and lots of pets!
|
|
To all pups who have crossed over;
We hope for your sake that in doggy heaven fetch is never ending, the treat dispenser never empties, the doggy pool is forever half full and they never stop telling you what a good dog you are. Thank you for the hours, days, months, years you spent watching over us, in this life and the next. May you all romp in peace.

First dates are pawkward!! Sometimes you meet a perfect gentleman or a lovely lady and sometimes, sometimes you meet someone who... well... isn't afraid to be themselves.
Our Valentine's dogs last year were no exception. Some of our pairs hit it off, others ditched on the check and some went to the bathroom and never returned, leaving their date to finish the meal. And of course, we had a few serial daters who were only in it for the food. We will be giving all of your pooches a chance for redemption... hopefully the fourth time is the charm! After three years, these pups better bring their A-game for the ladies and show us some proper doggy etiquette. Mark your calendars and make your pup a daycare reservation for
Sunday, February 14th!
(Dogs attending boarding that day are already booked for the pawty so no need to reserve!)
All pups attending the party will be offered a small plate of gluten-free pasta with a dab of pureed pumpkin to share with one of their favorite furry friend. With all these scrumptious snacks, please leave lunches at home unless absolutely necessary. Some of the young, rowdy pups may still want to bring a small lunch.

* Please leave nylabones and rawhides at home. If packing a large bag of food, be sure to write the amount per feeding on the bag.
* Lobby doors are locked between 10am and 2pm on weekdays(Monday-Friday). We will not accept any arrivals or departures during those hours.
* Dogs with expired vaccines will not be accepted for daycare or boarding. We require an updated vaccination record 48 hours BEFORE he/she arrives. If you are traveling abroad, we also will need a local contact in case of emergency.
* Your dog MUST have a snap "quick release" collar for day care and boarding, with
no tags attached. This is important for your dogs safety.
* Please let us know at least 24 hours ahead of time for cancellations and reservations.
* Be sure to inform us of any changes in contact information; phone numbers, email/home address, emergency contact, etc.
* If a family member or friend is picking up your pooch from daycare or boarding, you must pre-pay your bill. If it's a last minute decision to have someone else pick your pup up, please give us a call with payment and let us know who we should be expecting.
* We'd be more than happy to take any and all plastic bags off of your hands.
