Congratulations to Conservation Trust of North Carolina's Executive Director, Reid Wilson, for being appointed by Governor Roy Cooper to Chief Deputy of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.

Wilson has led Conservation Trust of NC since 2003 where he is responsible for leading the organization, including assistance to land trusts, government relations, land protection, public relations and fundraising.

This is a testament to the great talent working on behalf of NC's environment. We are proud to have Conservation Trust of NC as a part of the EarthShare NC coalition
The NC Sustainable Energy Association (NCSEA), an organization of individuals, businesses, government, and nonprofits interested in creating clean energy jobs in North Carolina, recently released their 2016 Clean Energy Census.

North Carolina's diverse clean energy industry now boasts almost 1,000 firms, more than 34,000 full-time equivalent jobs, and $6.4 billion in annual revenues. Energy Efficiency led the industry in both employment and revenues, accounting for nearly half of all clean energy jobs and generating over $2.5 billion in 2016. You can read the full report here

NC League of Conservation Voters Foundation Launches PowerUp NC

Is it feeling drafty in here? Many NC homes were built before the days of energy-efficiency rankings. Over time, gaps near windows and doors let out precious heat (or air-conditioning). To combat this, homeowners are forced to crank up their thermostats, leading to higher utility bills and energy waste. Through PowerUp NC, NCLCVF is working in neighborhoods to provide simple weatherization techniques and more advanced home retrofits in order to lower bills and protect our environment. Read about how one homeowner became an energy-efficiency ambassador after her retrofit.
Thank you for your support of EarthShare NC and all our Member nonprofits. Follow us on social media at the links below to stay up to date between editions of NC E-News.

Happy 2017!
