Greetings ACEC OKLAHOMA members! The upcoming 1st session of the 59th Legislature has one of the highest number of bills filed in many years with nearly 3100 measures introduced. The legislative session begins February 6th with the Governor's State of the State address and must adjourn by the last Friday of May or before. The state of Oklahoma has a record amount of revenue, $13B and legislative leaders are committed to growing the state’s rainy-day fund while increasing funding for some agencies.
We are proactively working with our coalition monitoring/lobbying multiple pieces of legislation impacting OTA, eminent domain, licensing, supporting the 8 year plan and protecting QBS are just a few of the issues we are tracking. As this legislation could impact our industry, we will keep you up to date. Here are a few resent news articles: Unfortunately, death threats are being made pro-turnpike efforts sparked by reported death threats (oklahoman.com);
Many thanks to our member firms who have supported the Pro-Pike campaign. We have raised over $25,000 to contribute to the effort! Your contribution will go a long way in ensuring our side of the story is heard by Oklahomans. If your firm made a commitment please be sure to mail in your check ASAP. The program thus far has been a success.
Finally, we are opening up signups for those interested in two committees: City Engagement and the Legislative Committee. If you have an interest in serving on the committee, please click on the link!
