Join the "Helping Others" Team
 
Do you like helping others? Are you a handyperson? Got some free time? If yes, then lend a helping hand as a City of Rancho Cordova Helping Others volunteer! Our Community Engagement Division is organizing a team of volunteers to assist fellow Rancho Cordovans with small home improvements. 

The Helping Others program matches skilled volunteers with Rancho Cordova residents who need assistance.


Community Enhancement Fund Citizen Oversight Board: Call for Applications
 
The City of Rancho Cordova is calling for applications for the Community Enhancement Fund (CEF) Citizen Oversight Board. The City Council is establishing an oversight board to review the manner in which Community Enhancement Funds are spent, in order to provide an additional layer of transparency to the community. 

The deadline to apply in person is Friday, January 12, and online by Monday, January 15. 


California Capital Airshow Recognized with ICAS Pinnacle Gold Award
 
The California Capital Airshow has been awarded the International Council of Air Shows (ICAS) Pinnacle Gold Award for its partnership with the City of Rancho Cordova on the #InspireTheFuture campaign - a special effort that provided 3,600 students and parents with free tickets to the 2017 California Capital Airshow.   Learn more

Public Works for You

Mather Rails to Trails Construction Begins
The City of Rancho Cordova is starting construction on the Mather Rails to Trails Project, which will install a new bike and walking trail with lighting and landscaping incorporated from the Mather Field/Mills Light Rail Station across Highway 50 to the Mather Commerce Center, following an existing railroad. 

Construction will begin on January 22, and will take place Monday-Friday. Please expect minor traffic delays between 7 AM - 5 PM.  Learn more

Lincoln Village Neighborhood Traffic Management Project and Memorial Mosaic
The City of Rancho Cordova is proud to celebrate the completion of the Lincoln Village Neighborhood Traffic Management Project ! The project installed new traffic calming measures, including speed humps, speed feedback signs, bulb-outs, high visibility crosswalks, and more. 

The project also features a memorial mural by Rancho Cordova artists Linda Nunes and Sid and Donine Wellman. 

The project is supported by a $150 thousand grant from the City's Community Enhancement Fund.  
 

Business News
 
The City of Rancho Cordova and its Barrel District welcomes  Thin Line Brewing, which opened its doors to the community in December, and is located at 11354 White Rock Road Suite 100. The Mexican restaurant, Estacion DF, also recently opened in Rancho Cordova and is located at 3000 Sunrise Boulevard Suite 6. 

The City of Rancho Cordova has a number of new businesses opening throughout the City, including Mimosa House coming in March, and several other restaurants in the weeks and months ahead. 

Business Volunteers
 
During the past year, several businesses have offered their staffs' services to assist with projects in the community. Business volunteers have made home improvements, planted trees and other landscaping, participated in street inspections looking for potholes and graffiti, or assisted with other projects. All of the participating businesses reported that it was a very positive and team building experience and that their employees enjoyed interacting and positively impacting the lives of others. 

We'd also like to recognize and thank VSP Vision Care for volunteering to complete three projects in Rancho Cordova in December 2017! VSP Vision Care worked with the Sierra Service Project on beautification efforts in the neighborhoods of Rancho Cordova.

Kindergarten and Transitional Kindergarten Registration Opens January 4th
 
Will your child turn five years old on or before September 1, 2018? Will your child turn five years old on or before September 2, 2018 and December 2, 2018? Registration for the 2018-2019 school year begins January 4th.

Enroll your child by determining your child's educational needs and objectives, becoming familiar with your neighborhood boundary area, picking up and completing a registration packet, and getting involved and/or learning about students services and support programs.  More details
