Happy New Year from Kyu

Happy New Year! I trust everyone had a fun and relaxing holiday and got to spend time with special people. As we start 2024, the new year is a time for renewal and re-dedication to our shared mission and goals. I spent my time off with family and have reflected on all that we are doing and the opportunities that will be before us this year.  I am so fortunate to work alongside an amazingly talented staff in the Facilities organization. I hope you are returning recharged and with renewed enthusiasm and optimism for the year ahead.

This year will mark the completion of a series of new capital projects. We are in the middle of the most aggressive campus expansion in our history, and there will soon be a steady stream of buildings coming online. During 2024 we will see the completion of the new Art Museum (to open in Spring 2025) and Prospect House in the Museum Neighborhood. In the Meadows Neighborhood, the Meadows Garage, CUB, Graduate Student Housing, Haaga House, Softball Stadium, and Racquet Center will be completed. It will be a busy year but one that will be filled with excitement and pride as we see our hard work come to life.

We are excited to be planning several exciting events throughout the year to give us a chance to take a break, connect with one another and recharge our batteries. I look forward to seeing you during the year at these events or around campus.

Welcome back to campus and I wish you all a happy 2024.

Roof/Tin Shop Members Grow Their Skills

Two members of the Roof/Tin shop attended a three-day metal duct design and fabrication training. Jeff Coley and Mike Wyckoff traveled to Birmingham, Alabama, for the multi-day intensive training.

During the training, Wyckoff and Coley learned how to layout, fabricate, and assemble 13 different duct work fittings out of sheet metal. They got hands-on training on common duct transition fittings, change-outs, and designing square to round transitions.

"Thank you for the awesome work in the Chapel. They’ve been painting on Floor A and B and the transformation is stunning! It can be very dungeon-like down here and I truly appreciate how hard they are working to improve this space. The walls reflect light now!...The carpenters just built and installed the shelves in my copy room. How lucky are we as staff to be able to request a custom-built set of shelving! Fine craftsmanship as always.

-Patricia Florek, Chapel Administrator

Culture of Inclusion Seeking New Members

The Culture of Inclusion is working to enhance our culture, being inclusive and meeting our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) goals continues to be a priority for Facilities.

The committee of Facilities staff members plan events and programing that create opportunities for all Facilities staff to connect and feel a sense of belonging. If you're interested in serving on the committee, please email Barbara Hargadon (bh9493@princeton.edu).
