Library Calendar of Events


On Wednesday, January 31st at 6:00pm meet District Forester,

Jacob Grochowski, CCF. Jacob will explain the purpose of a forester, describe the services offered and programs available to landowners. One program that will be discussed is the Qualified Forest Program which can help reduce tax burden and keep forested acres forested. Learn about the Michigan Forestry Assistance program. Jacob can also provide forest management advice, discuss how to read your woods including tree identification, age and health. He can connect you with consulting foresters to develop management plans. Would you like to know which species would thrive on your land? How does wildlife benefit from the surroundings? What’s going on with your fruit trees or landscaping trees in your yard? Bring your questions for Jacob. This free presentation provides opportunity to ask an expert. Registration is not required, all are welcome to attend and refreshments will be served.

Drawing Class with Kimberly Liedel-Ross begins on Monday, January 8th at 10:00am. Instruction and all supplies are included. Cost is $20 total. Please register, ages nine and up are welcome.

Join Judy Ryan for the next series of American Sign Language classes beginning Tuesday, January 9th at 5:00pm. All skill levels are welcome. Practice and build upon your vocabulary and have some fun along the way. No need to register, attend when you can.

Digital photography classes begin Tuesday, January 16th at 6:00 pm. Each class builds upon the next while you learn inside tips and tricks to help you capture those special moments or scenes like a pro. Bring your camera. Register today!

Beginner Tai Chi classes with Martha Orloff begin Tuesday, January 9th at 5:30 pm and again on Thursday, January 11th at 4:30 pm. Pick a day that works best for you and attend that class to enroll. Enrollment closes on January 25th so if you are interested in trying Tai Chi be sure to attend class before enrollment closes. Tai Chi is a free class offered at the library.

Preschool Story Time with Ms. Judy begins Tuesday, January 9th at 10:15 am in the Children’s Room. Ms. Judy is a retired preschool teacher and current community educator in American Sign Language. Judy is enthusiastic and full of positive energy. Story time will include songs, stories and socialization through art and activities. Ms. Judy is looking forward to meeting young ones and their families. Story Time happens every Tuesday at 10:15 am through February 27th. Come join the fun!

After Hours Playgroup will meet on Tuesday, January 9th from 4:30-6:00pm in Room B (library lower level). This is a great opportunity for parents, caregivers and preschoolers to meet up for fun focused play together in an engaging and educational setting. Registration is not required.

Versiti Blood Center of Michigan Blood Drive will take place at the Cheboygan Public Library on Thursday, February 22, 2024

Do you have the PAC2 App?


Library patrons can now download the PAC2 app to their smartphone or tablet and have instant access to our library catalog at their fingertips. The app has all the features of our online catalog. Browse our collection, place holds and renew books online. The PAC2 app can store your library card so if you leave home without your card just open the app select your card and scan to check out. Download this free app from Google Play or the Apple App Store or stop by the library, our staff is happy to assist you!

We have partnered with Michigan Department of Health & Human Services to provide free rapid test kits to our community. Stock up on kits for yourself or claim up to five per household. If you are feeling unwell or have a confirmed exposure please park in our curbside pick-up parking, call the library & someone will run some kits out to you.

The Book Nook is Open!


The Friends of the Cheboygan Area Public Library host a used book sale twice a week! Find some new-to-you books on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 10:30am to 2pm in the Book Nook bookstore on the Library's Lower Level.
