Registrations are now open for the ISS Design Awards, welcoming participation from all custom yachts, first hulls of a series, and refit projects that were launched and delivered between January 1 and December 31, 2025. We look forward to celebrating the innovation, craftsmanship, and vision that continue to shape the future of our industry.

Superyacht Visitation to the Middle East- by the Numbers

International yachting interest has steadily grown in the Saudi Red Sea’s offerings, especially for larger yachts considering a compelling winter and shoulder season alternative to the traditional milk-run destinations. With world class superyacht-ready infrastructure established in the Kingdom (including Jeddah Yacht Club, and Sindalah Marina) as well as the upcoming marinas at Amaala Yacht Club and Shurah Island, more captains together with family offices are programming in visits to the Saudi Red Sea, complemented by the local presence of several international yacht agencies (including ISS members Multiplex - JLS Yachts, BWA and Hill Robinson).

But how have superyacht visitation numbers grown over the past five seasons for the larger region – taken as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA, both coasts), the U.A.E, Oman, Bahrain and Qatar? Using BoatPro for our source data, our team ran the numbers for yachts 24m and over. Over the past season (August through July for the purposes of our studies):

• Some 305 unique yachts spent time in the larger region. This represented a +31% increase over yacht traffic five years prior
• The UAE & Oman enjoyed the largest number of visits, at 187 yachts; followed by the Red Sea with 131 yachts
• Some 29 individual yachts spent time in both the Red Sea, the U.A.E. & Oman

If we look over the course of five (5) seasons – or 2020 through 2025 – some 500 individual yachts over 24m spent time in the larger region.



Lastly, we also looked further afield to determine what proportion of yachts transited both through the Red Sea and key yachting destinations, again within the five-season time frame. Our findings were, for the:

• Maldives (including Sri Lanka’s Colombo as a major port), some 77% of all yachts transited either north or south bound through the Red Sea
• Seychelles, 70%
• South Africa, 31%
• Singapore Straits, 28%
• Indonesian Archipelago, 24%
• Australia & New Zealand – each 8%

In summary, these figures handily demonstrate both the long-range capability of superyachts, but also the key role that the Red Sea plays as a yachting and aviation cross-road. As the ISS Ambassador for Saudi Arabia, I greatly look forward to seeing these numbers grow further with yet more world-class marina infrastructure coming online in the Kingdom: yachting bases that will support the maritime exploration of the delights that the Red Sea offers, but also the rich cultural history of the Kingdom itself.

Sydney will host a new charter show, building on the success of the previous Superyacht Australian Soiree – the new-format Sydney Charter Show will bring together charter yachts, brokers and potential charter guests, showcasing Australia’s growing prominence in the charter market. This show will be held on the 22^nd and 23^rd February 2026, followed by the Australian Superyacht Conference on Tuesday 24^th February.

Immediately following the Charter show and Conference is the 2026 Sydney Sail GP; the 7^th annual event of this high-speed spectacular that draws increasing spectator numbers and has become a major attraction on the harbour for superyachts and their guests. 3 days, from the 28^th February 2026. Tom Slingsby is our three-time champion and our favourite team on Sydney Harbour sailing for a home-crowd. The insanely good on-screen graphics and commentary really allow the general public to tune-in and get a better understanding of the tactics and excitement.

Looking ahead, and a major project for the Australian superyacht industry, is the planning for the 2032 Brisbane Olympics. Brisbane 2032 Project - I’m pleased to announce Stephen Joyce as our full-time Project Manager for Brisbane 2032. Stephen will focus on securing government support across all levels to maximize the Olympic opportunity for Brisbane, the nation, and the region. Visiting vessels alone represent a potential $1.8B economic benefit that we aim to capture.
