2026!!!! WOW! Happy New Year, everyone!! We hope that your holiday season has been joyful and magical. Did you make any resolutions? We hope that one of your resolutions for 2026 to spend more time playing at the museum!

Just because the holiday season is over, it does not mean that the fun has to stop. You can count on the museum to continue to be a place for joy and creativity! In fact, in a few short months, we will be adding more exhibits to our Exhibit Hall. We are beyond excited for this and know that you will LOVE exploring the new spaces to play.

Another fun thing to look forward to are our incredible Stage Series performances. Up first is a crowd favorite- Mr. Drew and His Animals, Too! This show will be on January 24th and tickets will DEFINITELY sell out, so be sure to purchase yours today!

Mr. Drew and His Animals Too is a show focused on natural science and exotic animals. Mr. Drew travels the state and beyond with an array of rescued animals. He delights and teaches thousands annually.

Annual Memberships: New Year, New Price

Our Annual Membership Rate is now $150! This is an incredible deal for a year of unlimited play!!

Helpful Membership Info:

-Our memberships cover all the children in one household, plus 2 named adults.

-Memberships include a year of unlimited play, starting from your first visit to the museum, NOT from your date of purchase.

-These make GREAT gifts! The recipient can just bring their gift certificate to the museum to activate their membership.

-Once activated, memberships are non transferrable.

SNOW DAY POLICY

As winter storms start heading our way, please check our Facebook page to see if the museum is closed- especially when the weather is questionable. We will post there if we are planning to close the museum for the day. If snow comes during the week, we follow Waterville Public Schools (AOS 92) for snow days. If they are closed, we will be closed, too. You can always check our Facebook page to confirm.

Birthday Parties

Birthday parties at the museum are a BLAST!

Book your child's birthday party at the Children's Discovery Museum TODAY and guarantee a fun-filled, imaginative time for all!

The Children's Discovery Museum is the perfect spot for your school and licensed daycare to visit for a Field Trip! Whether you are looking to have the children come for a morning of open play in our Exhibit Hall, or have a special program tailored to the needs of your group, your kids will have an amazing experience! Can you believe winter is here?? In an effort to keep the snow outside of the Exhibit Hall, we would like our museum visitors to please bring inside shoes, slippers to wear in the museum.

Another option is to wear socks, but please be aware that our floors can be slippery. Thank you for helping to keep our museum free of snow and debris!

February Vacation Camp

Come & join us for our half-day vacation camp! We have art, science, movement, and open-ended play on the schedule every day.

Ideal for ages 4-7

$125 for the week or $30 per day

Play Me a Story with Portland Stage

Saturday, January 17, 2026, 10am-12pm, $16

In collaboration with the Portland Stage Company, Waterville Creates presents Portland Stage's Play Me a Story. Children ages 4–10 experience the fun and magic of theater--enjoy a performance of children’s stories followed by an interactive acting workshop with Waterville area artists. Build literacy skills, encourage creativity and spark dramatic dreams!

Slime Making + Imagination Kits with Liz Korson (ages 5+)

Saturday, January 24, 2026, 11am-1pm, free but pre-registration is required

Offered as part of Community Maker Days. Welcome to a magical place where creativity and imagination rule! Join artist and creator Liz Korson for sensory exploration with slime and her color joy imagination kits. Experience a fun journey and meet new friends along the way. Imagination Kits are available to purchase in Made: Maine Makers Market and are full of fun items to spark imaginative play.
