Dear Friends and Art Patrons,
When we greet a stranger, we often ask, “What’s new?” So while greeting this new year (and happily waving 2021 bye-bye), I am telling myself to embrace what is out there and accept what surprises await me. I want to be more adventurous, in life and in my art. I’ve made some bold moves with color, where I was known to play mostly in the neutral sandbox. I’m loving playing with gold paint as well. And all those boxes of red pastels I’m amassing are showing up in various paintings. I’m putting more of my emotions in my work as well, I think…
Lately, I’ve been toying with visiting different lakefront areas; once we feel comfortable really exploring different states again, my husband and I will be off on a new adventure. Photos and paintings to come! But right now, even though we are vaxxed and masked, some in-person workshops have been cancelled and made virtual. My weekly museum classes are still a 'go' as of this writing.
I’m excited to share that I am painting a series of local restaurants for the town of Wilmington, NC, and we hope to show them all in 2022 in conjunction with upcoming food events. I’m thrilled with the support this town has shown me since moving here 2.5 years ago and feel honored to be part of the art scene here. Once again, one of my paintings will be in the Wilmington Big Book of Business, honoring the town.
Thanks to all for reading my newsletters, visiting my website, sharing my info and coming along on this journey with me. Happy New Year!
