ESI Turns 10!
While the 'Econsult' name and business traces its roots back to the late seventies, Econsult Solutions, Inc. or 'ESI' as we commonly refer to ourselves, celebrates ten years in business this year. It's a milestone worth celebration, but also reflection, taking stock of where we have been and where we want to go.

Impacts of ESG Boycott Legislation Report Out Now
Working with Ceres, the Sunrise Project, and As You Sow, ESI has released its findings on the potential impacts anti-ESG legislation could have on taxpayers. If all of the proposed bills are enacted, it could total $700 million.
New York City Office Adaptive Reuse Report

The New York Economic Development Corporation released its report on office adaptive reuse, produced by ESI. It presents a series of recommendations for converting underused office space into residential housing.
RAISE NOFO Released
The U.S. Department of Transportation released the 2023 RAISE grants notice of funding opportunity.

We work with public agencies to help them show the economic, transportation, social, and environmental and equity impacts of their projects and achieve the desired outcomes of the RAISE program. Key services include:

  • Benefit-cost analyses;
  • Equity analyses and impact on communities;
  • Third-party review and analysis of applications prior to submission;
  • Full preparation of application package.

Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity, or RAISE Transportation Discretionary Grant program (formerly known as BUILD), provides a unique opportunity for the U.S. Department of Transportation to invest in road, rail, transit and port projects that promise to achieve critical national objectives.
ESI Celebrates Our New Vice Presidents!
In December, ESI Directors Frank Robinson and Rebecca DeJoseph were promoted to Vice Presidents! Rebecca originally joined the firm in 2017 as a Senior Analyst and Frank joined in 2020 as a Director. Congratulations to you both!

On February 15, Santander Navigator, in partnership with ESI Center for the the Future of Cities, will present "Paving the Way for EV Policy in America," a webinar for city leaders, urban planners, and practitioners to examine the challenges and opportunities electric vehicles (EVs) present, discuss upcoming policies/strategies, and present new ideas on preparing for broader EV adoption.

U.S. - China Research
Elderly in Rural China the Most Vulnerable Group in Recent COVID-19 Outbreaks

As China continues to tweak and relax its COVID-19 policy, there have been mass outbreaks throughout the country. Judging from the global experience of the pandemic, this wave of infections in China can be regarded as a sort of "remedial lesson". In the early stages of the pandemic, during the stage when the strains were deadlier, China adopted strict prevention measures to avoid the death of a large number of people. This is an achievement that should be acknowledged.

Hilco Redevelopment Partners is set to begin the first phase of construction on the Bellwether District soon. It will spans 1,300 acres on the site of the former Philadelphia Energy Solutions refinery.
The Pew Charitable Trusts has awarded $4 million in grant funding to the Esperanza Health Center, which over a five-year period, will help support the organization's daily operations. Esperanza offers services ranging from primary to prenatal health care in Kensington.
The Franklin Institute is set to open Disney100: The Exhibition on February 18, 2023. The new showcase will provide attendees with an immersive experience throughout a 15,000 square foot gallery in commemoration of the 100-year celebration of The Walt Disney.
