Dear St. Francis de Sales Community,

What a month. This newsletter is full of updates from St. Francis de Sales High School: basketball news (and big wins!), summer travel, student experiences work study and more.

We also have some announcements to share.

  • First, we are proud to be a Big Shoulders Fund Plus school. One of the many ways they help us is by helping schools find and keep good teachers! If you or someone you know is interested in teaching at a Big Shoulders Fund Plus school, please share this website with them.

  • Second, SUMMER DATES! Families mark your calendars now!

Week 1: Juniors and Seniors-: July 10th- July 14th
Week 2: Sophomores: July 17th- July 21st
Week 3: Freshman: July 24th - July 28th

  • Third, SAVE MARCH 4th! Mark your calendar as we announce the Kavanaugh, Keating, Weber Alumni Raffle the evening of March 4th AND celebrate the Hall of Fame inductee Mike Melendrez. Tickets for both events go on sale this week!
And I couldn't send this newsletter without congratulating our basketball teams. Both the girls and boys teams make us proud, from the hard work they do before and after school, to their competitive spirit and their support of each other. The teams have also had some success, including a win against Leo High School for the first time in some years!

Remember you can get your SFDS gear year round! Visit our Pioneer family spirit wear sideline store and shop online and have your gear delivered directly to you.
Please let me know if you have information you want to share in future monthly newsletters or reach out to plan a visit!

"I love how much I'm learning about finance that I didn't know before. It's so interesting." said Pierra "Everyday I learn something new. This week when I was in the office, I had so much to do and had to learn how to prioritize my tasks. Once I made a plan and got them all done, I felt confident that I could take on more."
“I really enjoy working with kids. I have had previous experience working with children and I really enjoy it. I'm also learning how to be more organized and take on a leadership role when working with kids. I'm a little shy and this was hard at first but it's getting easier." Areli, student working at Our Lady of Guadalupe School.
"I really enjoy working at SkyArt because you are allowed to express yourself through art and you are able to learn different things about art every day. In addition, learning how to do admin work is also a really important skill in the workforce that I'm glad to experience." Deuanna SkyART
Emmanual is currently working at The Invert, however, also spent some time at the 10th Ward Alderwoman's office!
When asked about his experience, he said, "I never really thought about politics or how they affected my community. While I have been here, I've gotten to meet some really cool people and learn more about my community."

Thanks Emmanual, Keep making your community proud!
