  • For high school seniors who have epilepsy and who live in the counties served by the Epilepsy
    Paul E. Smith
    Foundation of Northern California.
  • Recipient will receive $2,000 towards their college education.

ASK for a REFERRAL to an Epilepsy Center if


1. Continue to have seizures despite treatment with two different seizure medications

2. Take multiple seizure medications daily and have unacceptable side effects

3. Need advanced testing to confirm the diagnosis of epilepsy or find another cause for symptoms

4. Need a team approach to epilepsy and other medical conditions such as depression, learning disabilities, anxiety, or problems with memory or thinking

5. Want to learn about non-medication treatments for seizures - epilepsy surgery, the ketogenic diet, vagus nerve stimulator, and other new therapies.

6. Have seizures secondary to genetic disorders or other rare diseases

7. Are pregnant or want to learn more about effects of epilepsy and seizure medications on pregnancy and the developing baby

8. Are interested in participating in clinical trials of new experimental medical or device treatments for seizures

CA Youth Leadership Forum for
Students with Disabilities
Want to spend a week on your own on a real college campus? Want an all-expenses paid trip to the State Capitol? Want to make lifelong friends and mentors? 

All California high school juniors and seniors who have a disability are invited to apply to the California Youth Leadership Forum for Students with Disabilities (YLF).

YLF is an annual five day leadership program that provides information and resources about employment, education, independence and assistive technology. Students will have the opportunity to live on a college campus and join more than 1,200 alumni from across the state that have been a part of this unique program.

The 2015 Youth Leadership Forum will be held July 27-31, 2015 in Sacramento, CA. Students will stay in the dorms on campus at California State University, Sacramento. 

Applications are AVAILABLE! Provided to selected students with disabilities at no cost to them. More information for Parents/Guardians here
Application Deadline: February 27th, 2015.

A variety of FREE educational training programs are available online to help everyone from school nurses to child care personnel and first responders. Some are accredited training programs and others simply help you better understand how to respond to epilepsy in your profession.
