Message from our Founder and Executive Director

Hi everyone, 

From all of us at Bonita Family Resource Center, we want to express our sincere gratitude for the incredible impact we've made together in our community. 

This year, we're especially proud of our new Free Meals for Youth Transitioning from Foster Care program. It's been amazing to see how this program is helping young adults who've aged out of the system gain a crucial foothold in their independent lives. 

But that's not all! We've also been busy assisting with: 

• Access to Health Insurance: Helping people get the healthcare they need. 
• CalFresh Program: Guiding individuals through the process of applying for food assistance. 
• Nutritional Information & Financial Counseling: Providing valuable resources to help people make healthier choices and manage their finances. 

It's truly inspiring to see the positive changes happening in our community. We've: 

• Provided access to Covered California, MediCal, Kaiser Permanente Community Health Care Program to over 400 individuals this year. 
• Offered application assistance for CalFresh to over 200 individuals. 
• Served over 300 meals to young adults transitioning from foster care. 
• Successfully provided enrollment assistance to the Calfresh program to a single mother of two facing challenges to provide groceries for her family after her ex-husband passed away and was a large part of her income to support her kids. The family received benefits and eased concerns. 

None of this would have been possible without the incredible support of our community. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity and belief in our mission.

This program helps fill in the gap of those in need of health coverage. Kaiser offers high quality affordable health care to those who do not qualify for health coverage through Medi-Cal, Employer insurance, or Covered California.

BFRC has partnered with SDG&E to provide access to the CARE program

The California Alternate Rates for Energy (CARE) program can provide you with a discount on your monthly energy bill (electricity and gas).

If you’re currently receiving public assistance, or you’ve recently lost your job, you may qualify for this discount. Even if you are receiving unemployment benefits, your household income as of today may qualify you to receive 30% or more off your bill. See if you qualify.

Community Impact

At Bonita Family Resource Center, we enjoy when our consumers are satisfied and happy with the services we provide, and we understand the difficulties some may be facing.

We are always looking to help the community as best as we can by bringing resources that will benefit them positively.

A 65-year-old male who was a retired teacher and had full care of his elderly 90-year-old sick mother, came to our office for assistance with the CalFresh program. When he came in, he was hesitant to apply because he had not asked for help before but mentioned that he could really use the benefits. Our CHW assisted him with the application and successfully completed the process.

Later he returned and informed us that he had been approved for benefits and thanked us for the help he received.
