January 2022 Heart Connections
|
|
In January, 49 (now formerly) homeless pets made a heart connection with their forever families. Our thanks to adopters for welcoming these amazing pets into their hearts and homes! Above are just a few of the new matches made this month. What a great beginning to the year 2022!
Adoptions are conducted by appointment and with an approved adoption questionnaire. Visit GMHS on the web to view all the homeless pets searching for a forever family and submit your adoption questionnaire electronically. Once approved, a member of our Adoption Team will schedule a time for you to make your very own heart connection!

January 2022 Shelter Snapshot
January was another excellent month for adoptions and and transfers through our Highway to Home program. We are grateful to all who made it so! The generous support of staff, volunteers, and donors enables GMHS to provide daily care, cover special medical needs, foster animals in homes as needed, and arrange transportation to adoption-guaranteed partners. We are also committed to education, outreach, and transparency. Our annual statistics are available on our website, and we also offer you a monthly snapshot.

Success on the Highway to Home
In 2021, 1,111 pets were transported through GMHS' Highway to Home program, where they went on to find their forever homes. In fact, many were adopted in a matter of days! This program's success is made possible by GMHS team members, volunteers, and funding from the Petco Foundation and individual donors. 2022 is off to an incredible start, with 86 pets traveling on the Highway to Home in January. They included cats and dogs, several of whom were longer stay shelter pets at GMHS.
If you would like to volunteer to pilot one of our Highway to Home transports, please contact Volunteer Coordinator Waynette Petty by email or call (804) 693-5520 ext. 116.
