HAPPY NEW YEAR!

How are you all doing with your New Year's resolutions? Okay, enough said...

It is 2017 and a time for renewal. We can make a difference, not only in our own lives, but also in the lives of others. It is time for the MASWA Board to research and choose non-profit organizations for our annual donations. I am reaching out to all of you MASWA members to make suggestions regarding these donations. We have not yet determined the amount of the donations or how many we would like to make this year, but are ready to start the process. The Board feels strongly that we give back to the senior community, in addition to the services the MASWA members provide for them.

The criteria for receiving a donation is as follows:
  • Non-profit organizations who give back to the senior communityT
  • The organization must be in the Minneapolis area (includes Minneapolis suburbs), and
  • The organization must provide services and products in the Minneapolis community.
Your suggestions can be made at the January membership meeting on Thursday, January 26, 2017. Please write your suggestions on the evaluation form for the January speaker and hand it in on your way out of the meeting. I would like to thank you, in advance, for your recommendations.

I would also like to ask all MASWA members to help welcome two new Board members: Jared Peterson, Chair of the Public Policy Committee and Jan Lehman, of the Membership Committee. I had the privilege of meeting them both at our January Board meeting and think they will be great in their new roles.

Before closing this note, I want to welcome all our new members. It is a new year, so all past members will need to renew their membership. We have a great roster of speakers for 2017 and speaker sponsors. A thank you goes out to Vicki Wilcox and Karen Mandile, Program Chairs, for their hard work and the ability to know what subjects the MASWA membership will be interested in.

I look forward to seeing all of you at our next membership meeting, January 26, 2017.

Happy New Year! I wanted to remind everyone that the annual MASWA membership expired on December 31st. With the new year comes time for membership renewal. We are working to grow our membership and we want you to spread the word about our great organization and invite other professionals to join our group as well.

Are your days really busy and you need an incentive to fit in just one more thing? Consider it done! Renew or join by the end of January and get the early bird special price of $25.00. If you should wait until February, the cost of membership will then be $30.00, but still a great bargain!

You can easily renew your membership online with a credit card, or you can plan to join at our membership meetings with either cash or a check. If you are bringing cash, exact change does help us if possible.

Please remember that your membership is an individual membership and cannot be transferred to another person. I really do hope you are planning to join us again. Please renew early and take full advantage of your MASWA membership in 2017!

Stay warm out there! I look forward to seeing you all soon.

Sincerely,

Judy Decker
