HAPPY NEW YEAR!
How are you all doing with your New Year's resolutions? Okay, enough said...
It is 2017 and a time for renewal. We can make a difference, not only in our own lives, but also in the lives of others. It is time for the MASWA Board to research and choose non-profit organizations for our annual donations. I am reaching out to all of you MASWA members to make suggestions regarding these donations. We have not yet determined the amount of the donations or how many we would like to make this year, but are ready to start the process. The Board feels strongly that we give back to the senior community, in addition to the services the MASWA members provide for them.
The criteria for receiving a donation is as follows:
- Non-profit organizations who give back to the senior communityT
- The organization must be in the Minneapolis area (includes Minneapolis suburbs), and
- The organization must provide services and products in the Minneapolis community.
Your suggestions can be made at the January membership meeting on Thursday, January 26, 2017. Please write your suggestions on the evaluation form for the January speaker and hand it in on your way out of the meeting. I would like to thank you, in advance, for your recommendations.
I would also like to ask all MASWA members to help welcome two new Board members: Jared Peterson, Chair of the Public Policy Committee and Jan Lehman, of the Membership Committee. I had the privilege of meeting them both at our January Board meeting and think they will be great in their new roles.
Before closing this note, I want to welcome all our new members. It is a new year, so all past members will need to renew their membership. We have a great roster of speakers for 2017 and speaker sponsors. A thank you goes out to Vicki Wilcox and Karen Mandile, Program Chairs, for their hard work and the ability to know what subjects the MASWA membership will be interested in.
I look forward to seeing all of you at our next membership meeting, January 26, 2017.
