ABLL INVITATION: AI FOR LAW LIBRARIANS

***Open to members and nonmembers of ABLL***

Join Rebecca Fordon, a law librarian at the Ohio State University Moritz Law Library, on Monday, January 22, 2024, at 11am for the webinar "AI for Law Librarians."

It seems like a new AI tool is being released every minute – how can we keep up and learn to critically evaluate these products? In this session, we’ll review the terminology and go over some of the key new products. We’ll also provide a checklist for key safety and security aspects and walk through a framework for assessing new generative AI tools.

There will be a Q&A portion at the end.

To RSVP: Email Kirsten Leary at kleary@socialaw.com. Please also send questions ahead of time.

Speaker's Bio:

Rebecca Fordon is a law librarian at the Ohio State University Moritz Law Library. She also teaches legal writing and a legal technology class. Rebecca speaks and writes frequently about legal technology, to students, practitioners, and faculty. She is co-founder of the blog AI Law Librarians, covering AI in the law.

About ABLL:

The Association of Boston Law Librarians was founded in 1966 when the librarian of Choate, Hall & Stewart initiated informal luncheon meetings among Boston law firm librarians in order to get acquainted, exchange ideas and discuss common issues. Eventually, speakers were invited to address the meetings, which were usually held at the Social Law Library. The organization had no formal name, but was called the Boston Law Firm Librarians and later the Private Law Librarians of Boston. In 1967, the organization became known as the Association of Boston Law Librarians.

Today, the Association of Boston Law Librarians includes a diverse membership from Boston area private law firms, law schools, federal and state agencies, as well as businesses. ABLL has over 100 members and holds educational meetings, social events and forums throughout the year for members to learn, share, and network. Members have access to the membership list and listserv, voting rights on Association issues, and the chance to participate in the organization through committees. Mentors are available to introduce newer members to the Association’s proceedings and to law librarian community.

Included with membership are educational events, brown bag sessions, and social gatherings held throughout the year at no additional cost. To learn more about joining, visit https://www.abll.org/join/
