Export Procedures Seminar - January 29, 2019

WTC Members to Exhibit at the Nuremberg Toy Fair 

Two southcentral PA companies will be exhibiting their products at the Nuremberg Toy Fair, which will be held from January 31 to February 3 in Germany.

The Beistle Company, located in  Shippensburg, PA, is the world's largest manufacturer of decorations and party goods, novelty items, store display merchandise, custom printed promotional and point of sales products. They will be in Hall 8/C24A.
                                      

RoomMates Decor
a division of York Wallcoverings, is headquarterd in York, PA. They are the largest manufacturer of wall decals and decorative peel & stick products in North America. Their booth is located in Hall 3/C-24.

Coincidentally, the international sales directors of both companies serve on the WTC board of directors, and both will be at the toy fair.

CPB Notice of Meeting & Request for Comments
U.S. Customs and Border Protection is pursuing an initiative titled "The 21st Century Customs Framework" which seeks to better position CBP to operate in the 21st century trade environment.   CBP has identified key themes for which CBP seeks public input through a comment period  and through a public meeting: 
  1. Emerging Rules in the Global Supply Chain 
  2. Intelligent Enforcement,
  3. Cutting-Edge Technology 
  4. Data Access and Sharing
  5. 21st Century Processes
  6. Self-Funded Customs Infrastructure. 
The public meeting will be held on March 1, and registrations for attending the meeting either in person or via teleconference are due by February 4.

Members of the public wishing to submit comments must do so by 5:00 p.m. EST, February 4, 2019.

Section 301 Product Exclusions Granted
On Dec. 21 the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative announced nearly 1,000 product exclusion requests from tariffs that went into effect on July 6. These exemptions from the Section 301 duty are available to any product that meets the description of the tariff subheadings or the specially-drafted product descriptions identified in the federal register notice. The product exclusions announced in this notice will apply as of the July 6, 2018 effective date of the $34 billion action, and will extend for one year after the publication of this notice. U.S. Customs and Border Protection will issue instructions on entry guidance and implementation.

PA-DE trade mission to Australia/New Zealand 
Export Delaware and the Pennsylvania Office of
International Business Development are jointly organizing a trade mission to Australia with an option to include New Zealand from April 1 through April 9.  Cost for the mission is $600, which covers the following:  
  • Assistance from in-country trade representative, Angela Foley.
  • Business meetings with distributors, agents, or customers arranged according to your needs.
  • Preparation session, in-country briefing and follow-up support after the trip.
Participants are responsible for airfare, hotels, meals, ground transportation and incidental expenses.  Eligible companies may qualify for a GAP grant to help offset expenses associated with this trade mission. Contact our office for more details regarding the grant.
  

New GAP Grant Available for 2019
T he GAP grant is offered again for 2019 by  PA' s Office of International Business Development though funding from  the  US Small Business Administration.  

The grant amount per year is $5,000 and the  following activities  are eligible for reimbursement: 
  • Overseas trade show 
  • Overseas trade mission 
  • Domestic trade show (needs pre-approval) 
  • Foreign market sales/business development trip 
  • Subscription to any of the US Department of Commerce international services 
  • Website internationalization (capped at $3000) 
  • Shipping of product samples (capped at $2000)
