NEEDHAM COMMUNITY COUNCIL NEWS
Reflecting on 2022

We look to 2023 with hope and optimism as we also celebrate this past year. While the pandemic may have subsided, we still saw historic levels of need in our town. As we got back out into the community and celebrated some accomplishments, we reflect back with gratitude for everyone who supported us in so many ways. We couldn't do our work without every one of you!
We are still here
Feeding your Neighbors

As we come out of the worst of the pandemic, we are still here helping our Needham neighbors navigate difficult economic times.

The need in our town continues to increase. Over 310 households in Needham depend on us for food, including 211 children who need a healthy start to their day. We hope you can help us to ensure everyone in Needham have enough to eat!
Needham Hearts are Full

With the help of countless volunteers and all the generous gifts to the Holiday Hearts campaign, we were able to give gift certificates to our income-eligible households.

Serving over 635 residents, including 85 teens and 121 young children, your financial gifts to the program brought so much joy! Families experienced the spirit of the season as they shopped for the perfect gift right here in Needham.

Thank you to Temple Beth Shalom and "Project Ezra", spearheaded by Lois Sockol & Anne Braunstein, for all their hard work helping preparing and delivering over 155 fully cooked Christmas dinners.
Dinners went to residents of Needham that were not able to join family or cook a large meal.
Winter Weather Policy
As we head into winter, the Council offices and all programs will close during snow events. We follow the Needham Public School for all weather closings.

January Holiday Closings:
Mon, Jan 2nd for New Year's
Mon, Jan 16th for MLK Day

Transportation Program
We Will Get You There...
The transportation program continues to help Needham residents get to their doctor's office, pick up prescriptions, get to important appointments, and much more. This past year we provided over 1,570 rides and continue to offer this service to anyone in Needham who does not find transportation accessible.

This program is made possible with significant grants from both the MetroWest Health Foundation and Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital - Needham. We thank them for their continued support.
Tech Teens - We Need Your Teens!
Do you know a busy student looking to fulfill their community service hours? If so, they can volunteer with us over the February vacation break, Feb. 21 - 24! Tech Teen applicants will be interviewed to determine their availability, interests, and skills. If you want to spread the word, please print our program flyer linked here:

December by the Numbers
The Council was bustling this December from providing food to our customers, assembling and distributing mass quantities of holiday gift baskets, conducting classes and getting folks to their medical appointments.

PLUS, a huge thank you to our volunteer, Sindi Conroy, and all our Thrift Store volunteers who literally turned our upstairs stock room into a winter wonderland for our Annual Holiday Boutique! From the scent of cinnamon and pine wafting through the air to the gorgeous displays, they filled our hearts with holiday cheer!
