Hello

" It has served as a launch pad for their dreams, connecting them with a supportive community ......."

....... and we are the community.
Alfond Competition Center Ribbon Cutting

The CVOA January 22nd board/member meeting is at the new Bill & Joan Alfond Competition Center. The 1 PM meeting is in a conference room and will have space limits.  The opportunity comes at noon for you (the Community noted above) to come see what this is all about.  Space from Noon to 1 is abundant.  If the first tour is full, we'll do a second, and a third, and a fourth, until we all have a look.  The excitement of races will be happening and competitors will fill the great room.  We will be the spectators with front row seats to see all that supports their dive down the hill.

The Alfond Competition Center has offered a tour and explanation of their purpose, goals, and processes.  Join us for the education and, since you're there, bring a dish for a pot luck lunch. Tours and pot luck lunch are from noon to 1. If cooking just doesn't fit the schedule, bring $5.  I've yet to see a CVOA pot luck where we've eaten all the food.  Check with me when the date is closer for a food category to bring.

Join me on January 22, 2017 to enjoy the new competition center and show the support of our CVOA community.

On Wednesday, January 18  there will be another midweek special, from 3-9PM when the cost of bowling is $15/hour per lane (split between up to 6 bowlers), shoes included. NOW Appetizers are half-off during this evening, as well as anytime Monday to Thursday evening for CVOA members (during non-holiday, non-vacation weeks).

Christmas Cookie Swap and Hike
December 3

Hiking leader Peg Bickford planned our hike and led us on a lovely ramble along the Carrabbassett River.   There was just one little tense moment crossing a small stream over a branch bridge, and all made it successfully.   We joined the Narrow Gauge Pathway for a ways and enjoyed the shelter from the wind as well as the perfect conditions underfoot.

Later the group filtered across the road at the Adaptive Outdoor Activity Center for refreshments.   We were joined by dozens of other members for the goodies, caught up with old friends, and met some new ones.   And everyone left with a selection of delicious cookies.

Photo of the Month
Glenn Bickford rescued this chickadee from the inside of his garage window;
 the chickadee bumped his head and came back alive.
