*New Class - Intro to Yoga
This is a class for those new to yoga and those interested in learning about a new style or aspect of yoga! Each week our Intro to Yoga class will focus on a different topic, including how to move through a sun salutation, categories of asana (seated, twists, standing, balancing, etc.), meditation and breathing techniques, inversions, and styles of yoga such as yin and Ashtanga. Class will move slowly and carefully, providing information about proper alignment for each pose and what the class, style, or technique entails. We will post the topics each month on our social media channels and monthly newsletter to help you find the class that is right for you!

January Intro to Yoga Schedule:
January 7th - Intro to Sun Salutations
January 14th - Intro to the Bandhas & the Breath
January 21st - Intro to Warrior and Standing Poses
January 28th - Intro to Poses for the Core

Meet Anthony, our featured team member for January !

1.) What got you interested in yoga?
I've always seen yoga as a beautiful art form. There is something beautiful about people holding or flowing into poses. Yogis always appeared to be enlightened beings to me, which is what drew me into practicing myself.

2.) How long have you been practicing?
I have been practicing yoga at my own leisure for about four years, and have been teaching since the beginning of 2018.

3.) What is your favorite yoga pose and why?
If I'm picking a more relaxing pose it would have to be Plow; there's something about having my feet over my head that makes me feel at peace. If I had to pick a stronger pose, It would have to be Crow; Channeling strength through arm balance that makes me feel alive.

4.) Least favorite?
I like to think of every pose as beneficial because they all challenge you in different ways.

5.) What do you love about teaching yoga?
I love seeing people feel relaxed and at peace with themselves; whether the class be heavy and sweaty, or slow and meditative. Simply knowing I helped them achieve that goal makes teaching feel rewarding.

6.) Any pets or children?
I have a beautiful, calico cat named Molly and a sassy, nebulung cat named Bear.

7.) What is your favorite food?
Chocolate. No question about it.

8.) If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go?
If I could travel anywhere in the world, I would go anywhere that has mountains. I want to have that feeling of accomplish when I reach the highest peak and I can look back at how far I've come.

9.) What is your long term goal?
My long term goal is to run my own yoga studio, or at least be able to make a living off of teaching or something within the same field.

10.) What hobbies do you have aside from yoga?
My hobbies aside from yoga would be watching 90's sitcoms, working out at the gym, or reading a good book.

11.) What's 1 thing no one would ever guess about you?
No one would probably guess that I have a sarcastic humor and am quick witted, because I come off as reserved and quiet.

12.) What's your favorite song?
My favorite song is Dying in LA by Panic! At the Disco. I actually saw them in concert for their Pray for the Wicked tour in July of 2018.

13.) If you were stuck on a desert island and could only bring 3 things what would they be?
If I was stuck on a desert island, I would bring my yoga mat, a bottle of wine, and a good book. If I'm going to have some alone time, I'm going to take full advantage of it.

"I personally learned a lot about the pros and cons of food choices. The impact they have physically, mentally, socially, economically and on humanity. I also became more educated and aware of food products/choices that I now enjoy that I otherwise would not have explored.  Thanks for teaching me and being a fun/energetic open minded teacher."
