Did you know...

In March 2016 there was a draft bill that would have sunset/phased out Occupational Licensing Agencies (OLA). On April 5, 2016 there was a meeting of the Joint Legislative Administrative Procedure Oversight Committee (JLAPOC). The support was overwhelming!

At this meeting all the OLAs that were on the draft bill (including NCITLB) addressed the JLAPOC. Our NCAD President, Craig Blevins, spoke on behalf of NCAD and NCITLB. It became very obvious to us, to the JLAPOC that they had drafted a piece of legislation that would be extremely harmful.

We learned that there were serious concerns about the number of NCITLB complaints. The legislation kept asking: Why are the numbers significantly low? What would be the point of having "Interpreting Licensure Law" here in NC if Deaf / Hard of Hearing Citizens are not filing complaints?

Do we still need the Interpreting Licensure Law? YES! Every complaint is important - to find out how you can file a complaint, please contact us and we will teach you!
