GARY PETERS STEPS DOWN AS BOARD PRESIDENT AFTER 20 YEARS

When Hurricane Wilma hit South Florida in 2005, Gary Peters looked for an organization he could trust to serve those in need. He found Boca Helping Hands. What began as a single act of generosity grew into twenty years of transformational leadership.

Gary went on to serve as Board President, lead Boca Helping Hands through unprecedented growth, and help shape the organization into the multi-campus, community-wide support system it is today. From coordinating our first major fundraiser, to bringing the Remillard Family Resource Center to life, to expanding job training programs and warehouse operations, Gary’s vision helped Boca Helping Hands meet rising needs with dignity and scale.

As Gary steps off the board, we are deeply grateful for the impact he has made, not just through buildings and programs, but through steady leadership, compassion, and belief in what this organization could become.

We look forward to honoring Gary and his extraordinary service at our upcoming Hands & Hearts Gala: A Legacy in Action, a beautiful evening celebrating a legacy that will continue to serve our community for generations.

Thank you, Gary. Your legacy lives on in every meal served, every hand lifted, and every life changed. 💙

Getting my CDL was a total game-changer. I was stuck in a cycle of living paycheck to paycheck, but this new path has opened so many doors. Not only do I get to drive and see new places, it’s also given me a renewed sense of purpose and confidence.

I’m incredibly grateful to Boca Helping Hands for believing in me and investing in my future. Their support and training gave me the tools and resources I needed to succeed.

Today, I’m able to provide for myself and my loved ones, and I truly enjoy the freedom and adventure that comes with being a truck driver. It’s more than a job, it’s a lifestyle, and I’m thankful to be on this journey.
