COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT SIGN UP

If you've followed along with this year's Hands4Hope Winter Boutique, you probably saw Taylor working away. As Clothing Logistics Lead, she was responsible for organizing, tracking, and distributing the clothing donations. Taylor first learned about Hands4Hope when she joined her on-campus Club in middle school, and soon found her way to Community Engagement Events and after-school Committees. As a senior, Taylor has now been involved for 5 years. Read on to learn more about her experiences.

MEET TAYLOR

We are beyond grateful to all those who supported the 2nd Annual Nashville Songwriters Live benefit event on December 17! Thanks to those who attended, shared, sponsored, volunteered, donated, and bid in the auction for your role in making the event a success. This event raised essential funding for Hands4Hope Education and Community Engagement programs to continue in the Folsom area.

Have you considered becoming an adult volunteer with Hands4Hope? There are many ways for adults to participate and deepen their connections to the community. Parents, college students, retirees, and those who just enjoy mentoring young people are among those who serve as volunteers. Adult volunteers fill essential needs at Community Engagement Events, including providing check-in/out, supervision, liaison with the on-site contact, and photos. They also join after-school Hands4Hope Committees, to mentor youth as they plan and implement a project from start to finish. Adult volunteers can participate as much or as little as they like, and there is no fee to participate. Fingerprinting and an orientation are required.

In the 2023-24 program year, Hands4Hope only had 34 Adult volunteer participants in youth outreach events. Help us meet our 2025 resolution of increasing that number to 40!

ADULT VOLUNTEER INFO

Hands4Hope adult volunteer Gen Walk is the quiet force that ensures everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. When something needs to be moved, stuffed, sealed, or delivered, Gen is the magic that makes it happen. From transporting Winter Boutique racks from our storage facility to the temporary pop-up shop, to returning borrowed trucks, Gen is always ready to step up and get the job done. Gen also is the vision and drive behind our involvement with Sister Nora's Place in Sacramento, where she guides Hands4Hope youth to deliver and prepare a monthly dinner for the residents there. Read on to get to know Gen, and why she's considered the "original" Hands4Hope adult volunteer, with involvement that spans 12+ years and more than 1,600 hours of service!
