2014 Spring Legislative Calendar
The General Assembly returns to Springfield this month to begin its Spring legislative session and I encourage constituents to visit me in our State's Capitol to see our state legislature at work.  Additionally, as we endeavor to develop our next generation of leaders, children are encouraged to see our legislature up close by serving as a "House Page for a Day;" age restrictions apply.  To assist with planning visits to the Capitol and to see when the Illinois House is in Session, please find the Illinois House of Representatives calendar here.

For information and assistance with children participating in the House Page program, setting up tours or to obtain passes to observe deliberations of the House, please contact Michelle Merwin-Sheppard in my Springfield office at (217) 782-6476.

Chicago Public Schools to remain closed on Tuesday
As our area continues to experience record cold temperatures and high winds many schools and organizations are closing in an effort to protect our children and the constituencies they serve.  For your information, the Chicago Public Schools ("CPS") have announced that for a second day schools will remain closed.
