Annual ARTSFUND Grant Program
For nonprofit arts and cultural organizations in Alameda County
|

The ARTSFUND Grant Program supports Alameda County nonprofit arts and cultural organizations that present programs such as dance, music, theater, visual arts, literature, media arts, and other related forms. Standard grant awards are $2,000 - $3,000 each.
Organizations We Fund
Eligible applicants must be Alameda County nonprofit organizations that provide arts and cultural programs to the public. The programs may be offered in-person, online or virtual. The intention of the ARTSFUND program is to support organizations that provide the majority of their programs to Alameda County community members.

Funding for the ARTSFUND Grant Program
Support for this program is provided by the County of Alameda, individual contributions submitted to the ARTSFUND with County property tax payments, and donations to the Foundation for the Arts in Alameda County.

Hesperian Boulevard
Corridor Improvement Project
Ribbon Cutting Event
Saturday, February 4, 2023, 1:00 - 3:00pm

The Alameda County Arts Commission invites community members to the Ribbon Cutting Event commemorating the completion of the Hesperian Boulevard Corridor Improvement Project on Saturday, February 4th from 1:00 - 3:00pm. The Ribbon Cutting Event will take place at the corner of Hesperian Boulevard and Paseo Grande in San Lorenzo.
The event also celebrates the completion of the public artwork by artist Vanessa Marsh. The artwork is in the form of stencil sandblasting on the sidewalks and featured on street banners and utility boxes along Hesperian Boulevard. The public art project was managed by the Alameda County Arts Commission in partnership with the Alameda County Public Works Agency.
The Arts Commission will present an art activity for all ages. Meet artist Vanessa Marsh and make an artwork to take home! PWA will also be giving away free tote bags with an art image.

Alameda County Women’s Hall of Fame
Nomination Deadline: Friday, January 20, 2023
|
|
Nominations can be submitted in thirteen categories that span most fields of work, including business, community service, culture & art, justice, education, philanthropy, STEM, Health, and education. There are also categories for emerging leaders, high school youth and non-traditional careers.
Nominations will be evaluated by a select panel of judges in February, and inductees will be honored at an awards ceremony and luncheon on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at the Ascension Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Oakland. This event has historically brought out over 500 guests and dignitaries to honor women warriors of Alameda County.

California Arts Council Funding Opportunities
Deadline to Apply: January 26, 2023
|
|
The California Arts Council (CAC) has reopened three of its funding opportunities from its 2022 grant season, with applications now being accepted for the following three grant programs:
Administering Organization – Individual Artists Fellowship: Successful applicants will be responsible for the planning and implementation of the Individual Artist Fellowship program. Applicant organizations for this funding opportunity may apply to serve Region IV (Northern California) only.
Creative Youth Development: Successful applicants will receive supporting for arts projects for youth outside of traditional school hours. Organizations funded during the previous 2022 program cycle are not eligible to apply for this opportunity.
About the Application Process
The deadline to apply for the second round for these funding opportunities is January 26, 2023. Application links, guidelines, and more detailed program and timeline information can be found on the individual program webpages linked above.

Stay up to date on the latest news from Create CA now that California voters have passed Proposition 28, also known as the Art and Music K-12 Education Funding Initiative. Proposition 28 creates a guaranteed annual funding stream for music and arts education for every student in every Pre-K through 12 grade public school in California without raising taxes. The support and leadership provided by Melissa Wilk is critical to the work of the Arts Commission. The Auditor-Controller/Clerk-Recorder Agency has an extensive leadership role with the County government and the Arts Commission.
